This was a good year for the Rideau Canal skateway. It opened in late December and closed for the season in early March. On the last weekend of Winterlude, I took this shot from Plaza Bridge.
I took my time heading down to where I was going to go down to join it. The Corktown Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that links Centretown on the west side with the University of Ottawa campus on the east side. I took this shot looking back the way I came as night was descending.
And then the other way. I intended to go as far as the bend in the distance before walking back to the start of the Canal.
The bridge is a graceful design.
Conditions on the ice were ideal for a walk.

Some fine night shots here.

DeleteSeems a lot of fun. I like the slow coloring of the sky.
ReplyDeleteJust the right time of day.
DeleteAnother beautiful, atmospheric series of photos from the canal.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIf my memory serves me well it’s the first time in three years it has been open for skating.
ReplyDeleteActually last year was good too. Of the two or three years before, one year they didn't open at all, and the others it was relatively short.
Delete...this has to be one of the world's largest skating rinks!!!
ReplyDeleteIn square meters, it is the largest.

DeleteI'm guessing it's closed in march due to thawing over Spring?
ReplyDeleteYes, now we have had the odd warm day (though not today) and it is melting in areas.
