Lansdowne Park

These tulips are planted alongside a row of bushes beside the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park. I passed by one evening.

At the east end of the property are a couple of other tulip beds. The largest forms a circle around a sculpture placed here for the 1988 Winter Olympics.

One more today, with the Pavilion in the background. We'll pick up here tomorrow.

Flower Beds

Today I feature random tulips from places around the city. These two are taken at churches in the Glebe.

Here we have the front garden of a Lowertown home.

This garden is in Centretown.

Planters with tulips can be found in the courtyards of the Byward Market.

These are in Confederation Park.

For today I finish in the Glebe with these shots. Central Park runs through the north end of the neighbourhood. Some of these may have been planted by human hands. But I suspect the work of squirrel gardeners, especially with tulips on the wooded slope.

Colours

In the latter part of April I was in Major's Hill Park, where I took two shots of a flower bed with tulips not yet blooming. This first view includes Parliament Hill in the background, and a statue of Colonel John By, the British military engineer who led the construction of the Rideau Canal. These are the first tulip pics I took for the year.

In early May I returned to the park. Tulips were emerging.

Other tulips can be found in the park.

Some planters along the western path had tulips. Views of Gatineau and the Ottawa River could be seen.

Along with tulips here are tree blossoms.

The north end of the park includes more flower beds. This one includes the National Gallery beyond.

And this one features Notre Dame.

When I came back to the park a few days later, the tulips had made substantial progress. We'll see that down the line. Today I leave off with this.

Tulips

Continuing where I left off yesterday, there were more colours amid the tulips as I approached the south end of the park. Companion flowers like muscari could be found too.

The house in the background is found at this end of the park. Tulips were coming along in the beds here.

On the west side of the path here are some flower beds that are always the first to show tulips each spring.

Another floral resident of the park this time of year grows in the grasses: daffodils. We'll be back in this park as the series continues, but tomorrow we are elsewhere.

Tulips

The flowerbed in this portion of Commissioners Park runs along a low stone wall that gradually curves away. Some of the tulips in this area were starting to show during this first visit.

This is the eyesore I mentioned yesterday and referenced last year during my coverage of the tulips. Some years ago the house that had been here, and which fit in with the neighbourhood, was demolished. This hideous bit of infill was built in its place. Interestingly a for sale sign is outside. Perhaps the owners have had enough of their neighbours giving them the stink eye.

I vastly prefer this house across from it, which has a good overlook of the park.

Tulips in the bed below that house.

And behind that bed and on the slope, some white trilliums are found.

This view features some tulips emerging and others not out. It's not apparent from here, but there is a path between them.

More colours presented themselves as I went along.
