Viewpoints

 In one of the barnyards where I left off yesterday, this shelter stands. A cow was having a rest inside, but looking at me as I took these shots.

Animals

 A mix of chickens were in this pen. 

Coming out of the Horse and Cattle Barn, I took these shots.

The barnyards outside provide the livestock inside some time out in the fresh air on winter and early spring days (weather permitting). Two donkeys were out having lunch.

In the other yard, several cows. In the background is the Cereal Barn, used for specific occasions.

This is the Poultry House- not in use at present, but in the warmer weather, I'd imagine the chickens, ducks, turkeys, and rabbits inside the Horse and Cattle Barn over the winter get in here, where they can go in and out from interior dens to enclosed yards on the other side of the building.

Critters

Ribbons of a champion whose retirement is spent here- a Hereford bull by the apt name of Hercules.

Here he is, having a rest and chewing his cud. When I came by later, he was up on his feet. A powerful animal, with a fitting name.

The barn takes its power for lights and the fans from solar panels.

Barns

 Continuing where I left off yesterday, here's one wing of the Small Animals Barn at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum.

This is the Horse and Cattle Barn.

Aside from horses and cattle inside, some other animals- including rabbits.

In winter and in early spring, depending on the weather, the livestock get some time out in the barnyard adjacent to the barn. This horse was waiting for that.

The collection includes a retired horse from the RCMP Musical Ride.

This is him.

Three turkeys share this space- a tom and two hens.

Their neighbours are ducks.

Farm

It was time to switch out my header image for the season of spring, though it hasn't been feeling quite spring-like. This one was taken last year at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau during the Tulip Festival. 

The Canada Agriculture And Food Museum is arranged in and around a series of barns, barnyards, and associated buildings in the heart of the Experimental Farm. The largest of the barns is the Dairy Barn. A herd of dairy cattle are housed inside.

These views take in the portions of the farm given over to pastures and growing crops.

Another of the barns, called the Meadowview Barn. I recall this one being part of the exhibit tour the last time I was here, although not being a big part of it. It seems to be primarily focused on event use or summer day camps.

This brick building is part of the tour- the Learning Centre. Its architecture reminds me of a market building.

The last time I came, I remember an entrance near the Dairy Barn. This time I had to find my way around to the actual entrance, not far from the parking lot. The Dairy Barn and Small Animals Barn are seen here.
