City Daily Photo Theme Day: Fire

The first day of each month is a theme day for members of City Daily Photo. For March, that theme is Fire. See how others are interpreting the theme right here.

I start with these shots taken at the Christmas Market at Lansdowne Park back in December. Wood burning fireplaces were around for warming up.

And gas powered fires were also available.

I took these shots of the raised fires on Dow's Lake during my night walk along the Rideau Canal Skateway.

This shot was taken on Sparks Street, as I was passing through the Winterlude displays.

When I returned, the fire was being put out for the night, with embers still visible among the snow that had been dropped in.

Fire in ice. This is part of an ice sculpture I showed you some days ago on Sparks Street celebrating the Canadian flag, which we'll see again soon. The design of the sculpture is to evoke a fireplace. This is the hearth, with flames in ice.

I headed over to the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River to take in things at Jacques Cartier Park, and here we had another wood burning fireplace.

Lastly, I have three views of the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill. First lit in 1967, it features the crests of the provinces and territories surrounding the flame.
