St. Patrick

Happy St. Patrick's Day, and in old Irish: cead mile failte!

One of the floats in the parade included the local St. Patrick himself.

These riders were part of the parade, as were emergency vehicles, decorated for the occasion.

This flatbed trailer featured musicians, but it was these three dogs that caught my attention.

As I made my way down into the Glebe, I kept pace with those greyhounds as they walked the route.

This dog was with his humans, and the greyhounds had his attention.

The same applied to this dog.

And so the parade kept moving. I kept photographing the odd dog in the crowd at this point.

Here is where the parade reached its end, with the participants leaving Bank Street and heading into Lansdowne Park. The greyhounds had quite a walk, and of course they were noticed by other doggies.

On Parade

Our St. Patrick's Day parade was last Saturday, winding its way from City Hall downtown to Lansdowne Park in the Glebe. I followed the parade route all the way down, taking photos as I went.  Onlookers varied in numbers along the way. Bands like the Ottawa Firefighters Band and bagpipers were part of the proceedings.

Classic vehicles were also part of the parade. The one in the lead was an old fire truck.

Cheerleaders for the RedBlacks were here. The RedBlacks, the 67s, and the Fury are all sports teams operating out of the stadium and arena at Lansdowne Park.

And as is always the case with this parade, Irish greyhounds and their humans were walking the route. I have more of them tomorrow.

Saint Patrick

I have one final day of St. Patrick's parade shots, and it's fitting to end on the day itself. Also have a peek over at my writer's blog, where I've got a St. Pats image post scheduled to go live when this one goes with my own warped sense of humour.

Crossing under the 417, Bank Street comes into the Glebe, and the rest of these shots reflect that area, around the underpass and south of it. That includes St. Patrick himself, who decided to wear shades for the occasion.

Shenanigans

Here we have more of the floats and marchers from last Saturday's St. Patrick's Day March, making their way south down Bank Street. The marchers include those of the canine variety- a number of Irish greyhounds.

Marching In Green

First, I have indeed switched out my header image for a spring like shot, even though as of the time I wrote this last evening, it was snowing heavily. It's a shot from the Tulip Festival last May.

The St. Patrick's parade was held last Saturday here in Ottawa. It was a particularly cold day as the parade went along a route that started at City Hall and ended at Lansdowne. I went along the route, photographing at various spots, mostly where there weren't onlookers. It started out with flags and bagpipes. I have more from this over the next two days.
