Seven

Head Of A Woman, a marble bust dating circa 1923-28, is by Alfred Laliberte. 


Port-Blanc in Brittany is a 1906 painting by Marc-Aurele De Foy Suzor-Cote.


Another painting by Suzor-Cote- Winter Landscape dates from 1909, after his return home to Quebec.


Here we start getting into works by The Group of Seven, the group of artists who were friends, painted together, and exhibited formally together from 1920-33. They were hugely influential on art in the country, both during their time and afterwards. This is The Drive, a 1912 painting by Lawren Harris, one of the members of the Group.


Maurice Cullen has been deemed the father of Canadian Impressionism. This is his work Winter Evening, Quebec, dating around 1905.


J.E.H. MacDonald was another member of The Group of Seven. Here we have March Evening, Northland, a 1914 work by him.


Another work by Harris- Winter Morning, a 1914 oil painting.


Not a member of the Group, but someone they could relate to. Snow Magic is a 1918 painting by Mary Wrinch.


We leave off today with another member of The Group of Seven. Frozen Lake, Early Spring, Algonquin Park is a 1914 oil painting by A.Y. Jackson.
