The Supreme Court

 One day earlier this month I stopped by the Supreme Court of Canada to photograph around the grounds.

A statue of Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent is placed here, looking east towards Parliament Hill. It is a deliberate placement- had he not gone into politics, this brilliant lawyer might have ended up a member of the Court.

The building is in the Art Deco style, lying to the west of the Parliamentary precinct.

Two statues out front are allegorical in nature, by Walter Allward.

I noticed a groundhog.

Museum Finale

 Today we wrap up this visit to the Museum of Science and Technology.

A steam engine, and one we saw early on in this series from the other side.

The locomotives do impress the visitor.

There is a space near the Museum entrance with this display. Pressing panels down below lights up what's above, a simulation of the Northern Lights, with colours shimmering. I hope you have enjoyed this visit.

Steam Power

 A look inside the next cab over.

The control area in this locomotive is glassed off.

In the heat of summer, these would be a sauna. The two men working would need cold water, and would store food here for their meals as the train would run.

Here we have a model of the SS Glencoe, a steamer that worked off Newfoundland for many years.

The last locomotive seen above, 926, was one of over five hundred of its kind.

Locomotive

 Rail lines worked hand in hand with steam ships to move people for decades, until growing sizes of planes made trans-oceanic flight more practical. This is a model of the RMS Empress Of Britain II, linked with the Canadian Pacific company.

The locomotives in here are quite a sight to see.

And you can even get inside, where the engineer and fireman worked.

There is a platform between the cabins of two neighbouring locomotives.
