At the end of April, I stopped at the Chaudiere Falls, where the Ottawa River drops through a ring dam into a long cascade of falls and rapids. At this time, all of the gates on the dam were open, and the falls were at full force. It made for quite a sight.

Cascade
I took a panoramic shot. I must have paused it, as it has the look of two photos stitched together.
Good timing with this one- a gull was flying by.
The falls were raging that day.

The Falls In Late Winter
It was time for a new header. This one dates to last May, taken in Commissioners Park during the Tulip Festival.
A few days back, on the last day of the winter, I paid a visit to the Chaudiere Falls, where the Ottawa River meets a series of islands between Ottawa and Gatineau, and where the main channel tumbles down falls and cascades, a total height of fifteen meters and a total width of sixty meters. It is ringed by a ring dam which diverts for hydro purposes.
The Chaudiere Bridge is immediately downstream. Also visible in the distance are the Portage Bridge and Parliament Hill.
I have not been up here in winter, albeit in late winter. Not everything was accessible, but enough was that it was worth the trip.
I was able to approach between two of the old industrial buildings.
Check out this video.
More from here tomorrow.

Frozen Splendour Along A River
The lines were long to head up to the main slides.
This year, a ferris wheel has been included in the festivities.
Through a gap in the trees, I looked across the frozen Ottawa River. On the far side, the frozen east branch of the Rideau Falls, where the Rideau River meets the Ottawa River.
Behind the big mound are smaller mounds of snow, geared towards activities for smaller kids.
A series of photographic displays are embedded into the wall of the big mound.
They are about the Artemis II mission to the Moon, the first manned mission to our moon since the Apollo program ended. NASA astronauts Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Reid Wiseman are being joined on the mission by Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen.
