Colours

I am returning today for a few posts on fall colours, taken back in October. This first view looks east from the Bank Street Bridge over the Rideau Canal one day, while the second shot looks west on another day. There has been ice already on the Canal in more recent days.

These three shots are all at different spots in the downtown core.

This statue of Mary stands outside St. Patrick's Basilica downtown, and stood out nicely against the fall colours in the background as I walked by early one morning.

This tree was in mid-colour changing in the Glebe when I passed through one gloomy day.

Further south in the Glebe, I came across this grand fellow, who I've featured once before. Harry is a very friendly kitty, with fur matching the fall colours in his neighbourhood. I would also refer to him as King Harry, Lord Over All He Surveys, Vanquisher Of The Red Dot, And Possessor Of The Almighty Purr.

This tree was across the street from King Harry, with its colours at full peak.

This I took outside the Sunnyside branch of the Ottawa Public Library, where ivy was changing colour on the wall.

And this view was in Old Ottawa South.

    @Lowell: ice and snow. Though the temperatures went above freezing yesterday afternoon, so both have taken a beating.

    @Tom: most of them are down now. Our peak colours were about a month ago.

  14. I can almost count the leaves that remain on our trees after the past couple of windy days, which is a lot more than I can say about the leaves now on the ground.

  16. Fall colours are lovely; cute cat too. We'd call him a 'marmalade', after the orange preserve that is that colour.

  18. Beautiful images of autumn are always a joy to see. I love how cats can accumulate different names or versions of their name as they get older.

  20. @Revrunner: we lost a good many in a high wind and snow evening a couple of weeks back.

    @RedPat: it really is.

    @Jenny: a good description for a cat like him!

    @Jan: I've got more Canal shots to come, but this is still at seasonal capacity. They've lowered the water levels after I took these.

    @Bill: the titles certainly fit him.

    @Catalyst: he is quite regal.
