Up At Nepean Point

Picking up where I left off yesterday, I went up behind the National Gallery to Nepean Point, on Easter Sunday. Views of both Ottawa and Gatineau are plentiful, with many of the landmarks to be seen on both sides of the Ottawa River. As you can see, there were still slabs of ice in the river that day, and we actually have more snow on the ground at present than we did that day. This place is a popular spot to come to on a sunny day, and is topped by a statue of Champlain; the explorer came up the Ottawa River in 1613.

  13. @VP: thank you!

    @Red: it's a popular spot, but people don't really linger too long, so I was able to for the most part photograph around people instead of catch them in images. I did like having them around the statue though.

    @Sharon: it's a great spot. I think for an upcoming theme day on city skylines, I might as well photograph from here again.

    @Nancy: the Alexandria Bridge is a favourite bridge of mine here.

    @Pamela: it is!

  18. Samuel has gorgeous views wonderfully photographed! And he must be reminiscing about how this looked like in the early XVIIth century!

  19. @Denise: thanks!

    @Orvokki: snow tends to stick to the slopes below Parliament- it's wooded there, and not a lot of direct sunlight touches those slopes this time of year, so the snow stays there longer.

    @Linda: thanks!

    @Norma: cold is good!

    @Ciel: a lot of changes since he came up the river, but he'd have seen the heights on the Ontario side of the river.

    @RedPat: I thought they were good.
