The Market And Pottery

The main Farmer's Market in the city is held at Lansdowne weekly, and during the winter it's held inside Aberdeen Pavilion. This is from the last Sunday in April; as of this past weekend, the market moved into Aberdeen Square outside for the warmer weather. The Cabal, as I call them, weren't allowed to interfere with this building while they turned most of the rest of Lansdowne into their retail and condo monstrosity. Otherwise there might be a Wal Mart here.

The Horticulture Building nearby was moved during the project (so that the Cabal could place one of their retail monstrosities where it stood), and restoration work was done as well. These days it hosts a variety of trade shows. On that weekend, it was hosting pottery artists.

  2. It's so nice to know the "cabal" wasn't able to screw the pooch totally! Love these markets. We have one outside market but it's not very good.

  3. Markets are great! So glad that the "cabal" had their hands off this building. The people probably would have vocalized their discontent if they did anything to the building.

  4. Those buildings/markets do so much for community building. Use. Enjoy. Photograph use and enjoyment!

  5. Thank goodness they didn't get their hands on the Aberdeen Pavilion William, it's the absolute perfect venue for winter market days and more!

  8. @Cloudia: it is!

    @Francisco: thank you!

    @Lowell: we do have several markets in the city and beyond, but this is the big one.

    @Bill: there are many aside from myself who aren't happy with what was done to much of the rest of the land.

    @Janis: I just wish the city had been wise about the rest of the land.

    @Grace: it is a terrific building.

    @Norma: me too.

    @Tanya: the Byward Market downtown has run since the 19th century.

  9. i can hear the buzzing of the lights now, i really dislike that sounds. noisy. why i don't miss school at all. they would always give me a headache by the end of the day. other friends would think i was crazy, they couldn't hear the noise? i guess i have super sensitive ears? ha. ha!! ( ;

  17. Our farmers market is always outside! I'd love to have it inside during the winter. Of course, our winters aren't nearly as severe as yours!

  20. @MB: it's been a chilly spring thus far- though today was warm in the afternoon.

    @Tamago: I imagine these pottery exhibitions are quite popular.

    @RedPat: both are!

    @Jan: it is good.

    @Cheryl: here it's a good thing that they're indoors in the winter.

    @Tex: true. It compensates somewhat from the nonsense elsewhere on the property.

    @Geoff: this market's a very good one.

    1. It's a quieter market over the winter, but now that spring has taken hold, that will pick up. I imagine this week or next weekend will be when the market switches over into the outdoor square.

  23. What a great location for public events like this. I think our farmer's market kicks off its season this weekend. It's miniature compared to yours.
