"You see, you're turning into a kind of serial monogamist. One girlfriend after another, yet you never really let anyone near you. On the contrary, you're affectionate to them and sweet to them. Even to me, although you thought I was an idiot." ~ Henrietta
"I did not." ~ Charles
"You did. I thought U2 was a type of submarine." ~ Henrietta
"In a way, you were right. Their music has a naval quality." ~ Charles
"How are you doing?" ~ David
"You remember the time you started Dad's boat and the propeller cut my leg to shreds?" Charles
"Yeah?" ~ David
"This is worse." ~ Charles
"Dear Lord, forgive me for what I am about to, ah, say in this magnificent place of worship. Bugger! Bugger! Bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger!" ~ Charles
I left off yesterday mentioning that prospective brides had space where they could try on wedding dresses (in nearby change rooms) and check themselves out in mirrors. The above racks are part of that. Something that was also going on at this event was a fashion show, at various times throughout the event. It was mostly women, with a couple of men, in wedding attire, walking the runway. This is the first time I've ever really photographed a fashion show (though I did photograph a photo shoot with a model in this building about a year ago which I used as part of my Photographing the Photographer theme post). One of the things that struck me about these models was that they were expressive and lively- the very opposite of the dead eyes models you see on the runways when fashion design houses put on big shows.
You had a marvelous time, I am sure!!
ReplyDelete: )
...looks like BIG $$$$s.
ReplyDeleteAnd did you choose one? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat romantic splendor,William. You captured the beauty well.
ReplyDeleteYour distance from the runway was perfect!
ReplyDeleteEyes glaze over when I see wedding dresses and gowns.
ReplyDeleteHello, what a pretty bridal show. The dresses look gorgeous. Enjoy your day and weekend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dresses William.. I went through a similar situation last month for real.. my niece trying on wedding dresses 😀
ReplyDelete@Catarina: it was an eye opener!
ReplyDelete@Tom: definitely!
@Marianne: hah!
@Jo: thank you!
@Marie: I wasn't the only photographer, believe me!
@Maywyn: they did have quite an audience.
@Eileen: thanks!
@Grace: I suspect that could get obsessive.
I don't think I've ever seen a wedding gown fashion show!
ReplyDeleteWell, on this one, to each his own!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the models were expressive and lively - like brides should be :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful wedding gowns on parade!
ReplyDeleteThis is really big business. Funny, I associate wedding dresses with 3 other seasons but I guess these shows are timed do gowns can be selected, fitted and altered for the big day in warmer weather.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: this was a first for me, but then I've never been in one of these events before either.
ReplyDelete@Red: true!
@Marleen: it was quite a surprise.
@Nancy: the models did a good show of it.
@Kate: true, you see weddings more often the rest of the year. One of my cousins, when she got married, they scheduled it in the later part of March, in southern Ontario, figuring that would be safe. That weekend saw a big snowstorm that was enough to shut down some of the major highways. The wedding still happened!
I've never seen a similar event, William.
ReplyDeleteGood job. And great photos. What fun you must have had!
ReplyDeletewow, william, are you planning on getting married? which one did you pick? okay ... sorry just being humorous!! have a great weekend!! ( ;
ReplyDeleteI have been to a couple of bridal fairs and the runway shows are always fun!
ReplyDeleteAh ~ exciting event and great photo op for you ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend to you,
A Shutterbug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
I can't believe you are showing me something I've never seen that's so everywhere! But never having been to a bridal show, well -- who knew?!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, William. Never been to an event like this.
ReplyDeleteDid you find a suitable bride you might want to spend a lifetime with?
ReplyDelete@Karl: it's quite eye opening.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: it was a rough gig, but someone had to do it. :)
@Beth: I'd have to find the bride first! :)
@Jenn: this one certainly was.
@Carol: it worked out well- I needed some extra posts for the beginning of February to give myself some lead in time for Winterlude, and this did the trick.
@Jeanie: this was my first too.
@Bill: I hadn't either! The last time I was at a trade show was comics and pop culture.
@Eve: oh, I think I prefer being single!
Quite the show!
ReplyDeleteIt was.
DeleteBeautiful show! We sure don’t wanna see models with dead eyes on bridal show :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't.
DeleteAn interesting peek at a moneymill of an industry, if you'll pardon my cynicism. Watch out! You could find yourself out hunting for a bride after all that inspiration.
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeleteWedding dresses are always exciting.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite a different experience for me.
