Tulip Blooms Alongside The Rideau Canal

Here we have daffodils growing in the grass on the slope leading onto the Flora Bridge ramp.

When I did the post on the bridge, I had one shot taken of the pond with a blossoming tree, and mentioned the bed of tulips at the far side. This is it, looking pretty in pink and red.

Of course every once in awhile a rogue tulip will make itself known. I like looking for them.

Orange, Purple, And Yellow

Picking up with the flowerbed I left off with yesterday, the combination of colours among these tulips was a cheerful sight.

I took a view of another bed, with the Canal in the background.

Blossoming Flowers

Lilacs tend to bloom around the same time as the tulips each May. On the afternoon of the same day in yesterday's post, I made my way back to the area through Old Ottawa East to photograph the Flora Bridge, which I showed earlier in the month. Near the Rideau Canal, I stopped to photograph the blooms.

I crossed the bridge and the Canal, which can be seen in the background here. There are some tulip beds down this way at the edge of the Glebe.

Near the bed above, I focused on one particular flowerbed, which gets mostly morning sun and is sheltered by bushes on its west side. The tulips were quite colourful.

Sports And Flowers

Continuing where I left off yesterday, this view shows the Olympics torch statue from the east, with the Aberdeen Pavilion in the background.

The tulips were bright in the early morning sunshine.

There are side beds across from the main bed of tulips here, with blossoming trees as a backdrop.

Two last shots of the main bed of tulips and the statue. Tomorrow I move to a nearby area of the Canal, taken later on this same day.

Morning Colours

Returning to Lansdowne Park in the Glebe today, I went down and photographed some of the tulips flanking the Aberdeen Pavilion.

Stepping out of Lansdowne at the east side, there are beds of tulips, the largest one circling around a statue placed here to mark the 1988 Winter Olympics. The Canal can be seen in the background.

Floral Glories

This view looks across from the bed of tulips I left off with yesterday to the others at the north end of Major's Hill Park.

Turning around gives a look back towards Notre Dame.

And this includes the National Gallery.

Another vantage point allows for both landmarks to share the backdrop.

Two more views of the tulips here. We'll be back to Major's Hill Park again down the line for more tulips, but tomorrow I move elsewhere.

Tulip Colours

Here's one last look at the bed I concentrated on yesterday. Parliament can be seen beyond the trees.

I moved over to the other beds at this side of the park.

As was the case at Dow's Lake, some sections of bed were blooming, others were yet to come. We'll continue here tomorrow.
