The photos in today's post date to the last two days of March. I was out along the shores of the Rideau River, with New Edinburgh across the water, and saw Canada geese in and around the water, which was high at the time. They weren't the first geese I saw this year, as I'd seen some two weeks before this. This one, swimming in the river, caught my eye.
The goose can still be seen in this shot. Downstream lies Green Island and the Minto Bridge. I'll show you a different perspective of that bridge tomorrow.
The following day was much brighter. I was coming back from running errands in Westboro and stopped in the Hintonburg area. This is the Ottawa Main Mosque, which stands to the west of the downtown core. I've seen it many times, but have never taken time to photograph it. Like so many other places of worship, the mosque is presently closed because of Covid.
...it's nice to see Ottawa's beautiful blue sky!
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeletePretty views of the river and the geese. The Mosque is different looking, maybe because of the windows.
Enjoy your day, happy weekend!
The mosque looks huge and it's nice to see some blue skies. Have a lovely weekend William
ReplyDeleteWhat a contrast with the blue skies!
ReplyDeleteI like the circular windows on the mosque...and wonder if the minaret is functional or just decorative...calls to prayers several times a day would be interesting to hear in Ottawa.
ReplyDeleteCanada geese are never far away in the winter. We have them all year downstream from the dam.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the river and a goose.
ReplyDeleteAnd the mosque has interesting architecture.
Have a great weekend!
I have always been comforted by the call to prayer from any mosque we were near while traveling.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful looking mosque. Nice captures of the river, William.
ReplyDelete@Tom: it is!
ReplyDelete@Eileen: it's certainly original, as opposed to something that took over a different space.
@Sami: strictly speaking, it's not that big a building, it just looks that way.
@Agnieszka: thank you.
@RedPat: very much so.
@Barbara: decorative. Calls to prayer aren't usually done as they are in the Middle East.
@Red: they've settled in now for the season all over here.
@Tamago: thank you!
@Marie: it's an unusual sound.
@Bill: thank you!
I love our geese.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteEnjoying your photos, William. Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
