Predator And Prey

In the second section of the Fossil Gallery are life sized sculptures of dinosaurs face to face; it's interesting to walk among them and see the attention to detail. As you can imagine, it can be difficult to photograph them without people being in the images.

Also in this area are displays and exhibits on the aftermath of the age of dinosaurs and the rise of early mammals. This includes a mock up of a skull and small rodents crawling on it. Have a close look around the eye socket and you should see the critter.

On an upper level here in the Gallery, one can find this set of large mammals, long since extinct themselves, but which gave rise to later life forms.

  3. Those are great and very detailed sculptures and you've made some wonderful shots of them. Specially the second and the fourth picture are awesome, William.

    A small anecdote related to this post:
    In May 2010 I made a short video for my at that moment 5 years old grandson Tijmen with two of his dino's. It was just a joke, but meanwhile it's my most watched video at YouTube with over 360.000 views: http://tinyurl.com/z78fydv

  6. Those dinosaurs look rather frightful! But what an interesting place to visit. You did a good job with the photos, in spite of the people, but did you need to knock all those old ladies to the ground? Heh, heh.

  7. @Tomas: it looks that way!

    @Lorelei: I enjoy visiting such places.

    @Jan: I will check that out today.

    @Janis: you're welcome.

    @Norma: these may be a close relative to T Rex. I didn't see the labels.

    @Lowell: thanks!

    @Linda: you're welcome.

    @Sharon: if the dinosaurs hadn't gone extinct, humanity could have never evolved.

  20. @Beth: one wouldn't want to be their dentist.

    @Lauren: I think it was good timing- there were a number of people in the Gallery at the time, but I just happened to get a few good minutes for photography.

    @Denise: they were formidable beasties.

    @Ciel: it would look very different, for example, on a Saturday when a lot of kids would be about.

    @RedPat: it definitely is.

    @Revrunner: and sharp teeth!

    @Marleen: we'd be in trouble if they were.

  24. Phew! Those teeth stopped me in my tracks! What a different place the earth must have been! (Good job working around the crowds. Sometimes it takes a lot of patience.)
