This ice sculpture was by a pair of Russian carvers. It is titled Symphony Of Sounds: Violin Stradivari, and depicts a woman playing the prized instrument.
Here we have another of those photo sets from previous Winterludes, between shelters.
This sculpture, which I've included the panel with, is Broken Arrow, by Canadian carvers. I'm assuming either brothers or father and son. It depicts the Avro Arrow fighter jet, a Canadian designed military program that was ultimately scrapped.
These amaze me every time you show them.
ReplyDelete...they look like glass crystal.
ReplyDeleteThe Symphony Of Sounds is exquisite - how long did it last for?
ReplyDeleteThe top sculpture seems very intricate.
ReplyDeleteMemories of John George Diefenbaker. I can see his trembling jowls now.
ReplyDeleteEspecially the first sculpture is so delicate ... fascinating how they do that.
ReplyDelete@Linda: me too.
ReplyDelete@Tom: they do!
@Rosemary: they were dismantled after last weekend.
@Joan: that's true.
@David: Dief made an error.
@Jan: that it is.
Hello, I am amazed at how delicate some of the sculptures look. Great collection, they are all beautiful. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day. Wishing you a happy new week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWhile I did nit comment on all the previous ice sculpture posts, William, I was amazed at the intricate carvings and the ine titled Imagination and the one in this post of the girl violinist were my favorites. These are simply amazingly beautiful, but alas, short-lived creations.
ReplyDeleteWow spectacular. And they only last a short while.
ReplyDeleteThe first sculpture is also has some beautiful motion along with the symphony.
ReplyDeleteIncroyable! Love seeing the ice sculptures William ✨
ReplyDeleteThose sculptures are breathtaking!!! The talent, the detail... unbelievable!!
ReplyDeleteFriendly reminder: Oscars... tonight!!
What an artwork ! Real beautiful !
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are impressive but I'm drawn to the symphony.
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteNever seen a sculpture of a fighter jet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a combination...violin which reminds us of beautiful music, and a jet airplane which reminds us of...well, war. But these are talented craftspersons...with only a limited time frame in which to make their creations!
ReplyDeleteMais um belo conjunto de esculturas de gelo, aproveito para desejar um bom Domingo.

ReplyDeleteTwo very different sculptures today. One rounded, flowing lines. The other sharp and angular. Both well done.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sculptures and they look delicate.
ReplyDeleteDelicate sculptures, carved out of a unique material!
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at the fine work they can do with ice.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful and graceful, both of them. Thanks for sharing. :-)
