A reminder to members of City Daily Photo- the theme for July 1st is Blue. And last evening I switched out my header image for something more of a summer sensibility, with a shot taken last June at the Rideau Falls.
Today I'm concluding this visit to Ottawa Comiccon. There is a local group of Star Wars cosplayers here in Ottawa that appear at various events. Two Dark Lords of the Sith were in attendance.
As was the most foul mouthed character in movie history, whose every word is bleeped out. R2-D2 is as ill tempered as you expect of an astromech droid.
These two cosplayers certainly caught my attention.
"I'm Henry the Eighth I am
Henry the Eighth I am I am
I got married to the widow next door
She's been married seven times before..."
~ Patrick Swayze, Ghost
Eye catching in a completely different way.
This chainmail armour is well done.
These shirts caught my eye, so I bought two of them- the Batman logo and the Imperial walkers at the upper right in the first shot. They look painted, but are of a different process.
I should have bought this shirt.
Aside from the poster art I picked up from the two artists I mentioned yesterday, I bought three posters at one illustrator booth, including this one, which was the first to catch my eye. It suits my sense of humour.
I like your new header!
ReplyDeleteDarth Vader reminds me of... my Mum. I´ll post about this sometime soon.
The new header is great.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how heavy chain mail is. This looks very well done.
R2D2 ... my love! :))
ReplyDeleteThat's also my laptop's name! :))
Very nice photo header ... real "blue"!
Gosto do novo visual do blog, aproveito para desejar uma boa semana.

ReplyDelete"As was the most foul mouthed character in movie history, whose every word is bleeped out."
ReplyDelete;-)
Ha ha!!
Henry and the x wife are the best.
ReplyDeleteI admire the workmanship of the costumes, they really are amazing, so much care to detail, serious business. The tee shirts are really nice as well, they have a vintage look to them.
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot to mention your header photo, it’s beautiful, it makes me feel like I’m being drawn into the falls! Catch your breath kind of moment lol

I love R2D2. Henry the Eighth is looking very authentic. There are lots of photo opportunities at an event like that.

ReplyDeleteOh I've always liked R2-D2!!

@RedPat: I did indeed.
@Gattina: the original three are must sees.
@Happyone: the bleeping bleeper of a bleeping droid is well liked.
@Bill: I couldn't resist that poster. I'm glad their book of samples was open to that page, otherwise I might have gone by.
@Parsnip: that's about as close as it gets.
The chain mail would be nice. :-)
ReplyDeleteI know so many people who attend Comicon's. I must look into them some day. I'm sure they let in motorized scooters!
ReplyDeleteLove the new header. It is as if that boat is going to run into the falls! Can you imagine working Comiccon? Going from place to place? What an alternate reality.
ReplyDeleteJanis
My husband is crazy with Star Wars...
ReplyDeleteGreat event. Interesting people. Fun t-shirts.
ReplyDeleteGreat and fun event. Nice to see them in costumes.
ReplyDeleteYour new header is a real nice eye catcher.
ReplyDeleteSome people make a lot of work of those acts.
Oh, my goodness! I love the header!
ReplyDeleteThese are all pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteLove your new header photograph.
ReplyDeleteAll great pictures from Ottawa Comicon.
All the best Jan
That was a great Henry VIII!
ReplyDelete@Revrunner: I liked it.
ReplyDelete@Joanne: there would have been no problem getting in here with one, and they seem to lay out the aisles as wide, so I'm sure that would be standard procedure for such conventions.
@Janis: it must be quite chaotic.
@Italiafinlandia: two of my shirts turned out to be Star Wars. The one that I bought deliberately, and a second one that was a mystery shirt turned out to be a Star Wars one too.
@Stefan: it was a good photo op.
@Nancy: a lot of people take this seriously.
ReplyDelete@Jan: they do!
@Jennifer: thanks!
@Jeanie: I thought so.
@Jan: thank you.
@Jenn: he was!
My husband would be in paradise!
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun.
