Different Subjects

The photos in today's post date to the last two days of March. I was out along the shores of the Rideau River, with New Edinburgh across the water, and saw Canada geese in and around the water, which was high at the time. They weren't the first geese I saw this year, as I'd seen some two weeks before this. This one, swimming in the river, caught my eye.

The goose can still be seen in this shot. Downstream lies Green Island and the Minto Bridge. I'll show you a different perspective of that bridge tomorrow.

The following day was much brighter. I was coming back from running errands in Westboro and stopped in the Hintonburg area. This is the Ottawa Main Mosque, which stands to the west of the downtown core. I've seen it many times, but have never taken time to photograph it. Like so many other places of worship, the mosque is presently closed because of Covid.

  2. Hello,

    Pretty views of the river and the geese. The Mosque is different looking, maybe because of the windows.
    Enjoy your day, happy weekend!

  5. I like the circular windows on the mosque...and wonder if the minaret is functional or just decorative...calls to prayers several times a day would be interesting to hear in Ottawa.

  6. Canada geese are never far away in the winter. We have them all year downstream from the dam.

  10. @Tom: it is!

    @Eileen: it's certainly original, as opposed to something that took over a different space.

    @Sami: strictly speaking, it's not that big a building, it just looks that way.

    @Agnieszka: thank you.

    @RedPat: very much so.

    @Barbara: decorative. Calls to prayer aren't usually done as they are in the Middle East.

    @Red: they've settled in now for the season all over here.

    @Tamago: thank you!

    @Marie: it's an unusual sound.

    @Bill: thank you!
