A last look at Moorside for this visit to the Mackenzie King Estate.
I went down the path back to the parking lot.
Mackenzie King's statement about service to the country speaks volumes to his character, and pretty much in a few words defines why he is the most influential leader of the country in the 20th century. The world could use more like him.
He stepped down from office, leaving the reins of power to his successor as leader of the Liberal Party, Louis St. Laurent, and retired here to his estate.
His funeral would be well attended, a testament to how much of an impact he made on the country.
He was influential in the creation of Gatineau Park itself, as well as the national capital's development.
Out in the parking lot, waiting on a shuttle bus, I took more photos of fall colours.
Beautiful place for a retirement. The world needs more leaders like Mackenzie King.
