Continuing on with my visit to the Mackenzie King Estate today, another look at Moorside.
I took another shot looking towards the meadow.
Mackenzie King bought the property from the family of a friend in 1924, combining its old name, Edgemoor, with the name of his childhood home, Woodside.
What would have once been a doorway features a display case where artifacts of the man are displayed and viewable on both sides. The other side is a corridor leading into the house from the side, its entrance visible in the first shot.
Two angels and a bench here in this hall come from Westminster Abbey, bought by Mackenzie King in 1930.
A portion of the upstairs can be visited. This is the office space of his secretary.
Here we have the main guest room.
The master bedroom is close by, and it too is big, with his bed at this side.
It looks like they just left.
ReplyDeleteIt does.
DeleteAhhh a master bedroom can rarely be too large. Apart from sleeping, imagine all the other activities that could take place there:)
ReplyDeleteIt seems comfortable.
DeleteI like the way it's all conserved and presented.

You're welcome.
DeleteIt looks very nice. The angels seem a bit out of place with the rustic feel of the interior.
ReplyDeleteBut quite fitting with exterior counterparts.
DeleteA beautiful place indeed.
