Out By The Campfire

It isn't all ice sculptures here in Confederation Park during Winterlude. There was a theme this year of backwoods living in some of the displays. Typically each year there will be one or two of these campfires in the park, surrounded by Muskoka chairs. When the fire is lit, it's a nice spot to relax. Surrounding this were several hut constructs with interior displays.

This one featured a customized chair out front with skis as its back.

Walking through the hut brings the visitor this view.

Another hut was surrounded by a web of branches, not unlike an igloo form.

This last one featured an interior display focusing on the night sky.

  5. I remain fascinated. And I've learned quite a bit from your post this morning. For instance, I didn't know that name of those chairs even though I'm familiar with them. Love the one with the skis. Can't imagine it would be warm enough to sit out there even with a fire going! :) The cabins are very cute. Lots of nice shots here, my friend!

  7. @Denise: a Muskoka chair or two would be essential for me!

    @Stuart: it does look good!

    @Ciel: we've got more than enough snow to export.

    @Norma: snow is the best part!

    @Jan: oh, yes, it's lovely at night.

    @Lowell: actually, it's quite cozy when the fire's lit. And on your side of the border, those chairs are Adirondack chairs. A bit different in construction, but a very similar look.

    @Jane and Chris: we'll dispatch them post haste!

  8. Those chairs look very familiar but we call them Adirondack chairs. They look wonderful outside in the snow but I don't think I'd linger and stay on one for long at this time of year.

    @MB: yes it is.

    @Gerald: it does appeal to me.

    @Lauren: thank you!

    @RedPat: more of that to come, actually!

  14. All it did was convince me that I don't live there.

  18. I love the idea of sitting around a winter campfire in Muskoka chairs. We had a neighbour who liked to do that and invite all his friends over. What fun! Sadly, he has moved away.

    @Grace: indeed.

    @Linda: thank you!

    @EG: I've done that myself.
