Impression

Starting off today, we have Waterloo Bridge: Effect Of Sunlight In The Fog, a 1903 oil painting by the master of Impressionism, Claude Monet, with the bridge just barely visible in a heavy fog.

Fellow Impressionist Alfred Sisley painted The Hillsides At Bougival in 1875.

This is a recent acquisition for the Gallery. Sunshine In The Drawing Room is a 1910 painting by Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershoi. Hammershoi often featured his wife in a painting, as is done here.

Bowl With Zinnias And Other Flowers is the title of this 1886 painting by Vincent Van Gogh.

Young Woman In A Grey Cloak was painted between 1920-24 by British artist Gwen John.

I'll be wrapping up the tour tomorrow. Today I conclude with a sculpture by Jacob Epstein. Torso From The Rock Drill. Originally meant to be part of a larger sculpture, this bronze is the only part of the design that was cast. It reminds me of something out of Tolkien.

We have a street called "Waterloo Strasse" and every time... ahhh...

I like the Impressionist´s work, too.
