For the next few posts I'm showing you shots from a walk I took earlier in the month on a cold night downtown to see the Christmas lights. I'm starting with this view looking east through the Sparks Street pedestrian mall.
Parliament Hill was lit up in violet. There has been a winter light show held here, but I suspect the work going on in Centre Block is the reason it wasn't held this year. Assuming we're past Covid next year, and this is still the case, it'll be a few years before that formal show returns, including the one in the summer. There was something on the grounds, however, which can be seen in the foreground to the left.
Here we have the West Block. The House of Commons has temporary quarters there for the duration of the project.
And here we have the lit art installation, along the central walkway. It is titled Entre Les Rangs.
One more look at West Block.
And to finish off today, the East Block, with scaffolding around portions of its structure, bathed in violet light.
