Lighting Up The Sky

Fireworks were the day's end event for Canada Day, and I made it up to Major's Hill Park, which is my usual spot to take them in. I spent time before hand chatting with a family from Grande Prairie, Alberta, who had come in for the occasion. Most of the fireworks were set off from Nepean Point to the north, but others from other places, including around the Parliament Buildings. They lasted a total of 20 minutes 17 seconds as a nod to the year. I took about two hundred shots in all, and here are just a handful of them.

  11. @Eileen: I was pleased by how these turned out. The only time I've ever tried fireworks before was filming a video a couple of years back of the Victoria Day fireworks.

    @RedPat: I just pointed and clicked! Going through that series of shots was time consuming to get down to a few I wanted for a post. I did save less than half of the two hundred, but these seemed fitting for a post. If we ever have a fireworks theme day, I can mine the others!

    @Marleen: thank you!

    @Grace: ah, but the moon was over to my left. I think a couple of these shots capture the park lights, while one captures a fireworks just in the act of exploding that's about moon sized.

    @Red: it was a lot of fun to watch it unfold.

    @Karl: thank you!

    @Norma: thanks!

  12. So nice to see the Canada Day fireworks. The German National Day is October 3rd.
    Typically there are no fireworks shows. And it's not the same anyway as having a summer celebration. I miss that!

  15. Great firework pictures! We had an impressive display here too, as our town's Victoria Day fireworks were rained out and cancelled, so they were added to the Canada Day display.... all done to Star Wars music, it was awesome!!!!

  19. @Halcyon: I wondered in the morning, given the rain, if the fireworks would go off, but that largely ended by the time I left the War Museum. In the evening, there was little of that, and calm winds.

    @Beth: they are a cheerful sight.

    @Tamago: I felt lucky to get these.

    @Shammickite: I'd have enjoyed that!

    @Janey: the only time I've done it before, I videoed the whole thing for a Victoria Day fireworks.

    @Mike: it was a whole lot of fun, that day. I've managed thus far to blog every day. Almost missed one day by not checking my scheduling until the last minute!

    @Klara: they certainly are.
