Today I return to the Byward Market for a look at the completed ice sculptures for Winterlude, and I'm going to start with three of them today. Two carvers from Latvia did this first one, titled Destiny Spinner. It features a larger than life figure watching over the cycle of life of humanity. When I was doing the works in progress posts, this was the last one I featured, as the carvers had a number of the smaller figures set up on tables before being incorporated into the main work.
Children Of The Sun is the title of this work by a pair of Russian carvers.
The sculptures this year were housed in pairs in the shelters, with national flags nearby. Between the shelters, photographs of previous sculpture work were set up.
This one is the work of a pair of sculptors from France and Poland. Our Biggest Treasure is its title. Enigmatic. Perhaps it refers to the imagination popping out of our head, but it's a beauty.
