Embassy

The embassy for the Czech Republic has been a regular participant in Doors Open for the last few years. The Victorian house, which dates to the 1890s, had been a residence and later a club for the Liberal Party of Canada. It has been the Czech embassy since 2000, and a treat to see during Doors Open.

Some of the space is used to display art. I didn't personally get it, but that's me. I have more from here tomorrow.

  2. Impressive - and art is always in the eye of the beholder, so, no worries, right :-)

  5. I don't "get" that art either. The fireplace, on the other hand, is a work of art in itself.

    @Lady Fi: the style would fit there.

    @Italiafinlandia: that it is.

    @John: I certainly agree.

    @Jan: that is true.

  16. i am with u on that William ... i am not getting that art .. i will try to zoom a bit?? are those tiny people in that frame? i think art is a personal thing ... but it would be nice to sort of get it... like see if you might follow. but i guess it makes the world go around ... having a difference of opinions in the art world. we can not all love the same type. i like unique ... like ones that give ya nature or floral views. abstract ones kind of lose me ...but oh well ... nice to see. 18. I noticed in the exterior shot that the building is fitted with modern windows. I dare say that also means modern heating/air conditioning as well. Good to see that the architecture is intact, and the fireplaces...a beautiful building

  19. Okay I didn't get the art either. It took a minute for me to get what you were talking about and then it clicked as to what you were showing in the photo.

  30. I didn't "get" the artwork either, so you are not alone, William. And I can't honesty say that the interior was especially eye catching, at least to me.
