The Archives And The Garden

Before I begin, an apology to my regular readers for the colourful vocabulary I'm about to use in the following rant. When dealing with people I dislike these days, my choice of words tends to lean towards things that would shock the Sisters Of Little Or No Mercy.

To the spammers who have managed to get past my filters the last few days: fuck you and the horse you rode in on. Your comments are swiftly banished to spam folders where they belong. And I don't give a damn about your goddamned black magic doctor you claim can fix any problem. As to the misogynistic fucking bastard who thinks all women over thirty are stupid and that mass spamming your fucking site to thousands of blogs is a bright idea- the reason every woman who ever met you will go out of their way to avoid you has nothing to do with them. You, asshole, are the reason your life is such a clusterfuck. Blaming women for the microscopic size of your genitals may make you feel better, but it doesn't address the reality that you are such a goddamned worthless fuckup.

To all of you spammers, do the world a favour for the first and last time of your worthless lives, and immediately cease your wasting of oxygen. I recommend a long walk off a short plank.

Rant over.

I passed by the headquarters for Library And Archives Canada some days ago. For my American readers, it is the equivalent here of Library of Congress. Flowerbeds and planters out front were filled with tulips.

A short distance away I photographed these blossoms in a tree. I was coming out here for a periodic view out over the Ottawa River that I have for a post in the fall.

Coming back, I came to this bed of tulips alongside the road. Flags of the provinces and territories stand alongside it. In the background you can see the spire of Christ Church Cathedral, one of two churches across from Library And Archives Canada.

Between the churches and Library And Archives is a space called the Garden Of The Provinces And Territories, which mixes together flowerbeds, bushes and shrubs, and terraced water features. Tulips were here. The other church, St Peter's Lutheran Church, can be glimpsed in the background.

This view from the other side of the flower bed looks towards Library And Archives.

And this view looks towards Christ Church.

A tree is always in full blossom outside St. Peter's when I come up this way in late May.

And I finish with these tulips, outside Christ Church, part of the Anglican denomination. I visited both of these churches this past weekend during Doors Open.

  1. This was a "colourful" post indeed!
    I´ll never understand those spammers. They must lead a very lonely, empty, sad life.
    The flowers and blooming trees are beautiful.

  2. My goodness, William! Your language is as colorful as your tulips. LOL.

    I've only had two spammers who recenlty bothered me more than once, and one was that Mumbai porn site and the other was a cleaning company in Saudi Arabia. Bizarre.

  3. Your flowers are reaching a wonderful stage now. I have one spammer, keep labeling is spam, but back they come... vigilance!

  4. What a colourful display of beauties!

  5. Indeed a very colourful post. But thank you for the beautiful and colourful tulips especially! I will just deleted their comments off my posts.

  6. Love the nice colors in it! So nice.

  7. Although I'd also like to tell these spammers what I think of them I know that they don't read a word of what's on the blogs they pollute with their comments; otherwise they would realise that an aged man walking around the churches of the English Fens would have little use for an escort agency in Mumbai! All we can do is delete their childish nonsense as quickly as possible and publish as much of the world's and humanity's beauty as we can, as you have here with so many exquisite tulips.

  8. A very colourful post today William - at least it has got it off your chest.
    I have found that once I have told 'blogger' that a comment is spam then I tend not to see them anymore.
    The first set of 3 tulip photographs today really shows off their brilliant colours.

  9. That is clear language for the spammers. Let's hope it helps and that they will retire to their dark caves forever.

  10. Whop ... whop go Whilliam go!!!! Mwahahahaha!!!!
    Kill the spam! :))))))) Cut the evil from the roots!!!! :)))
    Thank you for making me laugh!!! :))) Let's hope it helps!
    The flowering trees are a marvel!!!

  11. Oh that made me laugh out loud William 😀 it is indeed incredibly annoying when they circulate on our blogs, such a pain in the proverbial 😀 Your photos are so pretty today 💜

  12. ...William, I understand your frustration with some of the awful spam that is going around lately, I get them too. Life is too short to get upset about this, that's what the spam button on the dashboard is for. I don't think that I can see enough of those lovely red and white tulips.

  13. Thank you!
    Flowering trees everywhere! The chestnut or hickory nut trees are especially full this year.

  14. You obviously have a good command of English, William, and I think you could have done a far better job without getting down to their level. It demeans you, frankly.

  15. I actually found the anti-woman spammer to be a nice change from the Mumbai hooker guy. #kidding

    You seriously have to winder how and why these people exist.

  16. I find the rant against baby boomers the most curious. How sick do you have to be to wish death to a whole generation? If there ever was a worthless and disgusting occupation...

    On another note, I love the blossoms!

  17. Hello, beautiful and colorful blooms. The spam comments seem to be getting worse lately, I just delete them. Wishing you a happy day!

  18. WoW, Your Area Is So Alive!! Dig Those Colors.

    Cheers

  19. Such beautiful flowers after your funny rant! Like salt and sweet makes for enjoyable tastes. My spams had 2000 hits sent to (through?) my blog...so they are doing something they want to...and I just report them as spam. I dare say the 2000 hits weren't the ones I saw.

  20. @Iris: all of a sudden the trees show blossoms.

    @Lady Fi: I certainly thought so.

    @Linda: I found the misogynist even more irritating than the Mumbai one, probably because I've had issues with another site entirely for going after another misogynist.

    @Cloudia: they never give up.

    @Italiafinlandia: that they are.

    @Nancy: you're welcome.

    @Aritha: thank you!

    @John: thank you.

    @Francisco: thanks.

    @Rosemary: I've repeatedly reported such people as spammers, but it doesn't seem to help. Blogger continues to let their profiles exist.

    @Jan: in an ideal world, the caves would collapse on them.

    @Ella: you're welcome.

    @Grace: it's good to vent.

    @Tom: I love them as well.

    @Maywyn: we have a lot of apple and cherry trees, and lilac bushes as well, that are blossoming now.

    @David: I find it's therapeutic to vent, even with colourful language.

    @Anvilcloud: that's a question I ask of many people these days.

    @Marie: that guy, just being himself- that's a life sentence.

    @Eileen: I delete them too if they pass the filters. I will not tolerate spam showing up in my comments of any form.

    @Padre: thank you!

    @Barbara: one of my posts always attracts yet more spam comments but because it's an older one, I have to approve any message, and so all of those comments never make it to publishing.

  21. I have marked several of those Mumbai comments as spam and they still keep showing up. I don't know why, but I have to say I enjoyed the rant. It made ME feel good to know that others are as bothered by spam as I am. :-)

  26. The tulips are all gone here now! It sure is cold today!

  27. I just press the delete spam button and move on amazed that some moron does spamming for whatever reason. It's useless, the odds are against them and they are annoying but the delete spam button needs an explosion sound when you get rid of them. :)
    The tulips are gorgeous and their colours are amazing.

  28. @DJan: I just don't get why Google does nothing about them. You report these people endlessly, and they're still there.

    @Red: yes- and of course I'm still busy downloading pics. I've got over five hundred shots to be dealt with in my camera at the moment.

    @Carol: I realized earlier today that I'm in what I call a black wall period, having a depressive time. A lot of little things have been building up and irritating me, and it's had its effect. Now that I know it's there, I can push back against it.

    @Sharon: they certainly are.

    @Denise: it's good to rant.

    @RedPat: yesterday here was cold. Not so much today.

    @Bill: if only the impulse to spam people led to the onset of a rapid fatal case of Ebola. That would be nice.

  29. hahahahah I started laughing when I finished the first part of the post and laughed even more when I read Linda's comment.

    My oh my... so much colour today, William!!!

    They invaded my blog as well. Sometimes they leave the same long message in 6 or 7 different post. I feel like copying all that "rhetoric" of yours. : )) Just kidding. I won't!

    Let's report spam to the Spam Reporting Centre!

    As for the other part of the post... It is very soothing to see all those glorious tulips!

  32. The tulips get better and better. And I couldn't agree more with your rant. They've nailed me big time lately.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I hope your rant helped. My site doesn't work as it should so I must approve every comment. I don't even bother reading spam garbage. They aren't worth the time, much less my energy.

  34. @Catarina: the tulips help.

    @Mari: thank you.

    @Beth: thanks.

    @Jeanie: they are a blight.

    @Kay: it does help to rant, especially when one feels down.

  35. Those fools can set your teeth on edge, that's for sure. I have to hang around my younger friends to hear all that language strung together with sentences. Well done. Shame Blogger doesn't pay more attention to their reports of spam.
    That said, I thank you for following the tulips around Ottawa for us. It's been a lovely journey.

  36. I get those spammers too but don't let them upset me. I just DELETE them and forget about it.
