Market

The Ottawa farmer's market has done a Christmas market at Lansdowne Park for years, based out of Aberdeen Pavilion. This year there's been an addition outside the building, in the form of a European style Christmas market. I took these first shots on the opening night of the event.

Music was to be found inside and outside the Pavilion.

Outside stands a Christmas tree, lit up with white lights.

And to the north of the building are the chalets in the European style. For those in the area, this event wraps up this weekend, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The farmer's market itself takes place during the day on Saturday and Sunday before taking a break over the holidays.

I took these shots on another day, when I was in before the outdoor market opened. In addition to the food vendors here, there are gifts being sold, such as these wooden toys.

And seasonal delicacies.

The market gets busier as the day goes along. For me the most convenient time to visit is when it first opens. The market vendors are almost entirely local, and have to sell their own product. There is no reselling here that can be seen at other markets. More from here tomorrow.
