A species that undertakes great migrations each year is the caribou. A diorama features several of them, and even more painted into the background.
From a big species to a small one. There are three small dioramas in this passage, and this is the first one, featuring a collared pika, a small critter of the far north.
The caribou is a beautiful animal. Would be interesting to read more about it.

ReplyDeleteOne of the great wildlife migrations I have always dreamed of seeing is of the caribou in our north. I have never done so and at this stage in my life probably never will, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteSounds crazy, but I didn't know that the reindeer in North America isn't also called caribou!

DeleteWilliam - caribou are majestic. I am especially fascinated by the intricate nature of the antlers! We have seen pikas in Montana and Idaho - they are adorable, and always on the move!
