I mentioned yesterday that I had gone to Nepean in the latter half of December. This is another of the former cities that was amalgamated into Ottawa as a whole at the turn of the century, lying to the southwest of the city core. On my way back I took a chance to photograph the Experimental Farm in winter conditions on what was a snowy day.
The Farm is a large government facility for agricultural research, crisscrossed by paths and roadways between the fields. Aside from the research going on here, it also houses the Canada Agriculture And Food Museum, another of our national museums in the capital area. It's been a long while since I've been there.
A cold and blustery day. Off in the distance, near that grove of trees, someone was walking their dog. Two specks lost in a world of white.
These were taken from a bus running along the north side of the Farm.
A familiar landscape to me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful white world. We haven't had any snow this year and hardly any frost.
ReplyDeleteWow ! that's a lot of snow ! and I haven't seen one snowflake this year !
ReplyDeleteThat looks very white!
ReplyDeleteThe whole place is all covered with snow. It must be very cold.
ReplyDeleteI toured the Experimental Farm a few years ago and it was an interesting experience. In a couple of areas we had to wear a mask - a mask mandate - and we didn't even feel we were losing our freedom! Didn't honk my horn even once..
ReplyDeleteWonderful snowy photos. It looks so cold:)
ReplyDelete@Italiafinlandia: it's a good place.
ReplyDelete@Jan: we get a lot of snow.
@Gattina: more to come.
@Marianne: yes it does.
@Nancy: it can be.
@David: I'll have to go back soon.
@Rosie: it was that day.
The Experimental Farm sounds interesting, we have a similar farm museum here. looks like a cold day to be out walking.
ReplyDeletePretty snowy winter landscapes. Have a happy weekend.
Daughters lived near the farm in an apartment on Merivale back in the day.
ReplyDeleteThe light captures a snowy winter day.
ReplyDelete...I love the wide open spaces.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very dull winter day.
ReplyDeleteCold and snowy!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you are way out in the country! Pics of the museum to come?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it was a very cold day.
ReplyDeleteHay bastante nieve y eso me fascina. No suelo ver nevar, pero es que tampoco hago por viajar, a las zonas que normalmente nieva...aguanto bien poco el frÃo.
ReplyDeleteThat was quite the change in temperature today! I can feel the cold in the photos. I can't wait to see what happens next time the cats want out!
ReplyDelete@Eileen: a national agricultural museum is a good idea.
ReplyDelete@anvilcloud: some of these shots are taken from Merivale.
@Maywyn: very much so.
@Tom: so do I.
@Red: it was.
@Bill: indeed.
ReplyDelete@RedPat: hopefully as things open up I can get there sometime soon.
@Sharon: that it was.
@Ventana: thank you.
@Jennifer: cold and snowy days are a given.
It sure does look COLD.
ReplyDeleteVery much so.
DeleteThese are glorious.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteIt looks like a regular farm, in winter, under snow. That is good.
ReplyDeleteI think so.
DeleteIt won’t be long and the fields will be in production with experimental crops again.
ReplyDeleteThey're under the snow waiting.
DeleteWonderful winterscapes!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIt looks so cold and desolate! Not a lot of tree cover to break the wind!
ReplyDeleteThat is true.
DeleteGreat snow scene photos ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you lots of love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Thank you.
DeleteInteresting about it’s change over. Looks a lot like here, beautiful snowy captures that of course don’t offer the cold blustery weather occurring! But I know the feeling brrr!
ReplyDeleteI love that kind of weather.
DeleteGoodness me, that is a lot of snow.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Typical for us.
