It is a tradition for me to take photographs from a given point over time, and one of those spots is in Major's Hill Park, where at a point along the fenceline, I photograph the view of Parliament Hill and the Ottawa River once a month. I start with this shot taken last January with the winter settling in.
I took this one in February. Similar skies, but taken in the morning with the Parliament Buildings illuminated by early sunlight.
A return visit at the end of March saw things like this as spring was well underway.
When I returned on a day in the latter part of April, it was on a brooding sky kind of day.
One pleasant day in early May, I came by as the trees were leafing out.
Late June saw things looking like this.
This shot was taken in July.
One day in early August, I returned. The skies were brooding.
During my visit in September, things were pleasant.
I took this shot in early October. Subtle hints of fall were showing.
On Remembrance Day in November, I returned again. Most of the leaves were down, but there were still some fall colours on the steep slope of Parliament Hill.
Lastly, I took this one on Christmas Eve, when the sun was starting to settle towards the west. Ice had been building on the river below during the month. Tomorrow we'll have the same effect, with a post of shots taken from upriver looking back this way.
Nice to see the changing seasons from that spot.
