Christmas Market

I'm starting off a series of Christmas related posts today with the Christmas farmers market at Lansdowne, held here in the Aberdeen Pavilion. Held over several weekends (this weekend being the last), it includes farmers and artisans. The farmers market here will be taking a couple of weeks off before picking up again over the winter in here.

This particular vendor has an emu farm, and the crafts here incorporated emu feathers and eggs.

I took several photos of this dog, which was a constant blur of motion as its human passed through the market.

  9. @Tomas: thanks!

    @Linda: thank you.

    @Nancy: I stop in at this market pretty much every weekend anyway, particularly at this time of year.

    @Marleen: it is exceedingly busy!

    @Marianne: it definitely is.

    @Hilary: this building is one of the few things about Lansdowne in its current state that I like- I still think the developers who got free rein to do what they liked with the park are nothing more than thieves.

    @Janis: it's a good tradition to have carrying on.

    @Furry Gnome: thank you!

    @Sharon: many, many yummy treats!

    @Norma: it would seem so, yes.

    @Revrunner: that's the idea!

  10. I'm always amazed at the creativity of people when it comes to farmers markets. This is a great venue for the market. I'll bet all communities would like this facility.

  11. That's my kind of market. What a beautiful building too. I love your header photo of the Rideau Canal. I suppose it's still water these days. Merry Christmas!

  13. Claver to have it indoors. There's a historical market in my area tomorrow. Might stop by for a visit.

  15. @Red: it's a good thing the Pavilion is preserved. There aren't many of these around.

    @Pamela: yes, the Canal has yet to freeze over. We did have snow in the night though.

    @Lowell: it's a very good market. Most of the vendors are local. We have one vendor coming in from the Niagara area every weekend- it's possible to grow certain fruits down there that aren't available here, but that's the exception.

    @Stefan: you might as well.

    @VP: it's a good spot. Mind you, when Lansdowne was being worked on, the Market had been literally a minute's walk from my front door over at Brewer's Park, so I miss that close access!

  23. I think I'd love this market. And emu feather gifts! Now that's something you can't find in a typical mall! I think I'd also have to take home one of those good-looking pies after all the exercise of marching up and down those aisles.

  25. Nice shots, William, they help to get in Christmas spirit, because that's not easy with the high temperatures we are having at the moment.

  26. @Ciel: and more Christmas to come!

    @Gunn: it is a big space.

    @Beth: yes, they were very good!

    @RedPat: it'll be quieter over the winter; not as many vendors as when it's at peak status in late September and early October.

    @Kay: those pies, I can assure you, are very tasty!

    @MB: it certainly is.

    @EG: it is fun. I stopped by again this morning.

    @Jan: we're cold at present. I've noticed a thin layer of ice forming on the Canal.
