Time In The Clink

Here are some more shots from the old Carleton County Gaol today, taken on Doors Open weekend. Aside from serving as a hostel, the building does have a series of panels along the old cell blocks telling its history. There is a tour company that does haunted walks in the city, and one of the walks is concentrated on this building. Ghost stories are plentiful, and the hostel has for some years not allowed people to stay on one floor with multiple disturbances. I can say having had been in there that I have very strongly felt an oppressive sense of not being alone here, that someone, unseen, is watching.

  16. Is it still used as a jail? As it seems very liberal to be able to go in and take photos if it is

  18. The stairway with the window is nothing but light coming through--I keep telling myself. You should return with the Ghost Busters.

  19. The lighting certainly enhances the eerie atmosphere of this fascinating place. To close a whole floor level must mean that hauntings are taken seriously.
