A Winter Display On Parliament Hill

One of the holiday highlights each year has been a projection show done on Centre Block on Parliament Hill. In the evenings from early December into early January, a winter themed light show lasting for the better part of a quarter hour is projected onto the stone of the heart of our Parliamentary district, repeating afterwards over the course of several hours. This is a winter version of the Northern Lights show that happens in the summers here. I captured the event a few nights ago on a relatively mild evening (after trying it a couple of nights earlier when it was bitterly cold, too much so for photography). The show features a wolf, polar bear, and snowman set to music as they explore the landscape. I have more of this tomorrow.

  3. This is beautiful! If we had images on our buildings now, they'd probably all be of Trump.

  4. Wonderful! I heard on the radio that they have cancelled the outdoor show on New Year's Eve! I don't blame them - it would be too cold for everyone!

  5. That would be awesome to watch even if it is cold ,but I know there are times it's just too cold for photos.

  6. @Francisco: thank you!

    @Tom: it certainly is.

    @Marleen: I agree!

    @Eileen: thanks!

    @Norma: he'd love that.

    @RedPat: I haven't heard that yet, but it doesn't surprise me. I was in Centre Block yesterday for some photography- the Peace Tower elevator was shut down in the morning because it was so cold!

    @Red: it's especially difficult when you're trying to do a video. I've got one from this show in tomorrow's post.

  13. @Sharon: so do I.

    @Karl: this one certainly fills the bill.

    @Maywyn: I can't remember the last time I've had a hot toddie.

    @Bill: thank you.

    @Carol: this one really stands out!

    @Jan: yes, the cold has really settled in deep here. I was in the Centre Block yesterday on a tour and wasn't expecting to get up to the Peace Tower deck- it was shut down because of the cold in the morning.

    @Mildred: thank you!

    @Klara: it is, yes.

  14. The blue color just reminds me of how blooming cold it is outside right now. Colder there, though. I guess we're having a heat wave by comparison. :-)

  19. @Revrunner: cold is a good thing. But my memory of last year recalls that the period between Christmas and New Year's was particularly cold here.

    @Jan: you're welcome.

    @Mari: it does!

    @Furry Gnome: they are.

    @Nancy: I quite agree.

    @Beth: thanks!
