One of the holiday highlights each year has been a projection show done on Centre Block on Parliament Hill. In the evenings from early December into early January, a winter themed light show lasting for the better part of a quarter hour is projected onto the stone of the heart of our Parliamentary district, repeating afterwards over the course of several hours. This is a winter version of the Northern Lights show that happens in the summers here. I captured the event a few nights ago on a relatively mild evening (after trying it a couple of nights earlier when it was bitterly cold, too much so for photography). The show features a wolf, polar bear, and snowman set to music as they explore the landscape. I have more of this tomorrow.
Belo trabalho, aproveito para desejar umas Boas Festas e um excelente ano de 2018.

...what a wonderful light show!
ReplyDeleteA nice show of lights!
ReplyDeleteHello, love the cool light show. The snowman is cute. I wish you all the best in 2018, a Happy, Healthy New Year to you and your family! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! If we had images on our buildings now, they'd probably all be of Trump.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I heard on the radio that they have cancelled the outdoor show on New Year's Eve! I don't blame them - it would be too cold for everyone!
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome to watch even if it is cold ,but I know there are times it's just too cold for photos.
ReplyDelete@Francisco: thank you!
ReplyDelete@Tom: it certainly is.
@Marleen: I agree!
@Eileen: thanks!
@Norma: he'd love that.
@RedPat: I haven't heard that yet, but it doesn't surprise me. I was in Centre Block yesterday for some photography- the Peace Tower elevator was shut down in the morning because it was so cold!
@Red: it's especially difficult when you're trying to do a video. I've got one from this show in tomorrow's post.
I love these projected shows.
ReplyDeleteLight shows are so spectacular, William !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice place for a hot toddie and day dreaming in the cold.
Fantastic light show and beautiful photos, William.
ReplyDeleteWow! Another splendid light display and photography!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year ^_^
What a wonderful display again.
ReplyDeleteWe've heard about the bitterly cold at your side of the ocean. Stay warm!
So very spectacular. Wishes for a happy new year.
ReplyDeleteWonderful event.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: so do I.
ReplyDelete@Karl: this one certainly fills the bill.
@Maywyn: I can't remember the last time I've had a hot toddie.
@Bill: thank you.
@Carol: this one really stands out!
@Jan: yes, the cold has really settled in deep here. I was in the Centre Block yesterday on a tour and wasn't expecting to get up to the Peace Tower deck- it was shut down because of the cold in the morning.
@Mildred: thank you!
@Klara: it is, yes.
The blue color just reminds me of how blooming cold it is outside right now. Colder there, though. I guess we're having a heat wave by comparison. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy these projected shows...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the series of photographs.
All the best Jan
That creates a fantasy land.
ReplyDeleteThose light shows are really interesting!
ReplyDeleteInteresting and entertaining light shows.
ReplyDeletei love the snowman or the tree. neat-O!!

@Revrunner: cold is a good thing. But my memory of last year recalls that the period between Christmas and New Year's was particularly cold here.
ReplyDelete@Jan: you're welcome.
@Mari: it does!
@Furry Gnome: they are.
@Nancy: I quite agree.
@Beth: thanks!
