Apologies in advance if I'm having problems replying to your comments. Whatever the issue it is, it's not on my side of things, since it's happening on different systems and different servers. But when you're spending ten or twenty minutes and clicking on a hundred or more of these squares trying to get one single comment published because the photo captchas don't even take, or the verification checkmark simply takes you right back to yet another photo captcha screen, it becomes very frustrating to try to comment on anything, so I may not be able to get around to replying to all Blogger posts. No problem at all with non-Blogger posts. Has anyone else been having problems with this? Needless to say, Blogger's "experts" in their Help Forums are completely useless, including one who decided to get snitty with me instead of recognize that I'm frustrated with the issue. For the record, I despise photo captchas entirely, and my settings do not require verification, but I've been told in the past that my blog is still making readers go through photo captchas.
I took these first shots in a downtown hotel during Canada Day. The place had banners of each of the provinces and territories hanging about.
The rest of these were taken in early September. The elevator doors in the hotel have maps and modified flags of the nation and several provinces and territories on them. There are probably more of them in the hotel, but these are the ones on the main and second floors.
Neat looking maps! I hate captchas too. I feel like I'm being given a sobriety test that is rigged so I can't pass.
ReplyDeletePlease don't worry about replying to my comments. It's a nice touch but frankly most bloggers almost never do...and I don't expect it...even if I am a non-Blogger.
ReplyDelete...the Provincial signs are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI like what they did with the elevator doors.
ReplyDeleteHello, I like the collection of maps. Nice display. I do not like having to fool with those captcha thingys. They are annoying. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to decorate elevator doors. The map using the provincial flag is a creative way of informing us and attracting interest.
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent idea! I hope it doesn't happen with mine William? Sometimes I find that I'll be happily commenting with no problems and for no apparent reason the verification thing on people's blogs start appearing. I usually stop at that point and continue next day!
ReplyDelete@Linda: there are nothing but complaints about them in their help forums, but Blogger just shrugs.
ReplyDelete@Kay: there's no problem with yours, or Wordpress blogs, but most blogs in the Blogger format have at some point ended up with captchas, despite the owner not setting verification in their settings.
@Tom: they are!
@Eileen: I do too.
@Eileen: they are beyond irritating.
@Red: it is quite effective.
@Grace: yesterday they were on me from the start, nearly every single Blogger based blog. I was profoundly frustrated. I think at present I am a full day behind. And the hell of it is that Blogger could resolve it easily: by deleting captchas entirely. They are not needed.
I was looking but not finding my old favorite, Saskatchewan.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those flag/maps! Yukon has a sled dog at top, eh? All just so rich, William!
ReplyDeleteI usually just ignore the verification things and my comments still get published.
ReplyDeleteI love those elevator doors. I'm so sorry you are having a problem with blogger. That gets so frustrating. I haven't noticed a problem
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the provincial flags. So sorry about your Blogger troubles. They seem to crop up from time to time and there's nothing anyone can do about it and you cannot reach anybody at Blogger to help you. Best thing is forget about it and go have a beer.
ReplyDeleteCurious what causes these Blogger blips.
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
ReplyDeleteFantásticas estas decorações de portas.
ReplyDeleteUm bom Domingo.

I like those provincial flags. They are interesting to see.
ReplyDelete@Catalyst: that one I didn't find.
ReplyDelete@Cloudia: it's fitting!
@Jenny: it was working for awhile today, and then it came back. Yesterday it was constant, right from the start, with almost every Blogger post I came across. I've complained repeatedly, insisted to these nitwits they call "experts" that my own blog is set to no verification, and that most people are the same where their settings are concerned.
@Sharon: I've looked at Google's forums, and others are having this problem too.
@Lowell: Google's tech people should be thrown out of a moving car, that's pretty much how I'm feeling about those bastards right now.
@Revrunner: whatever this is, it's unacceptable. I'll be two days behind by tomorrow, and I doubt I can catch up if this carries on.
@RedPat: I thought so!
@Francisco: thanks!
@Bill: they are!
What a clever way to decorate the lift doors. I am loath to say I am not having problems commenting as I know what will happen next!
ReplyDeleteBlogger blips seem to come and go ...
ReplyDeleteIsn't this a clever way to decorate the doors ...
All the best Jan
so many more parts i gotta visit in Canada ... hope to get there soon??! fingers and toes crossed on that. i love the flags. so fancy. ( :
ReplyDeleteThose elevator door ads are something else. When they are about civics or maps, they are great. When they are ads, I feel like a captive audience being held against my will.

I like your photos of the maps on these elevator doors, but I hate those captcha things, sometimes they are so annoying. :-(
ReplyDeleteCaptchas ruin everything!
ReplyDeleteCool maps.
ReplyDelete@Fun60: this problem I had at this time last year did have me behind for awhile. Fortunately it never came back.
ReplyDelete@Jan: that it is.
@Beth: thank you!
@Janis: I agree.
@Jan: they are!
@Norma: they do.
@Klara: indeed.
