A Contortionist At Her Work

Bendy Em is an Australian busker who makes the circuit around the world with her contortionist act.  She grew up in Britain before going to Australia, resulting in a blend of accents, and has been at Buskerfest in the past with her show stopper act. At this time last year she was six months pregnant, she said, and that pretty much meant there was no way this act was doable.

She starts with warming up, bantering with the crowd as she goes along.

And then she starts doing things that, well, none of the rest of us are capable of.

As is generally the case with buskers, Bendy Em ropes in an unsuspecting onlooker to give her a hand getting out of this contorted position. More from this tomorrow.

  1. I have to admit I had to look up "contortionist" - we call it "Schlangenmensch", snake-person, easy, no?
    The word, not the act itself!

  2. Amazing how she can contort her body as if the bones are made of jelly!

  3. At the fittest point of my life I couldn't have dine that stuff!

  4. Hello, I wish I could move like that. Happy Monday, wishing you a great day and happy new week!

  5. What a limber person she is. Can't wait to see how she gets back to "normal shape."

  6. Good grief! She gives flexible a whole new meaning.

  7. Yikes! Bendy Em must be thrilled she has such a big audience William ✨

  8. Wow! She certainly has a big audience, and I can see why. :-)

  9. I am flexible enough ... but again not so flexible! :)))

  10. What will she be like when she is an old lady? ;-)

  11. This would be fascinating to watch. She has a big audience for a busker.

  12. @Iris: definitely not!

    @Nancy: that's true.

    @Francisco: thank you.

    @David: I can't!

    @Marianne: she does draw people in.

    @Eileen: thank you!

    @Barbara: she's such fun to watch.

    @Janey: it is an amazing act.

    @Tom: indeed.

    @Marie: she does.

    @Grace: she's good at it!

    @DJan: I know I've seen her do this act on multiple occasions, and I'm still baffled by the finale.

    @Ella: I'm definitely not!

    @RedPat: I imagine still in great shape.

    @Red: she does, but that's typical- the audience builds as the act goes along.

    @Beth: indeed!

  13. She is amazing and so is the hanging basket of flowers behind her.
    Lovely weather for you.

  14. Wow, Bendy Em is very flexible.

  15. Wow! What flexibility! Neat photos ~ must be something to view in person ^_^

    Happy Day to You,

    aka (A Creative Harbor)

  16. Blimey! Not surprised she couldn't do that whilst pregnant!

  17. @Parsnip: thanks!

    @Sharon: indeed.

    @Carol: it was.

    @Marleen: definitely.

    @Bill: that she is.

    @Jenny: certainly not!

  18. From contortionist to handbag. Not bad! :-)

  19. Oh dear, that's amazing, but even if I could, I wouldn't. Great photos

  20. That is amazing what some people can do with their bodies!!

  21. Holy wow! That woman must be triple-jointed as well as talented. And obviously recovered quickly from giving birth less than a year ago!

  22. Lycra was invented for people like her.

  23. Astonishing. Impressive. But you have to ask, WHY?! I heard there was an Australian contortionist who came to Britain to look up his relatives...

  24. I couldn't even do that when I was five!

  25. @Revrunner: quite a skill!

    @Maywyn: I can't!

    @MB: I agree.

    @Happyone: indeed.

    @Joanne: definitely.

    @Magiceye: very much so.

    @Sallie: true!

    @Kay: oh, yes!

    @Mike: why not?

    @Jeanie: I couldn't!

    @Cloudia: it was!
