I turned back from where I was standing in the last post from yesterday and photographed back where I had come from along the lake. This year, with Coronavirus dominating things, there weren't really tourists from out of town taking in the tulips. I have no idea what things were like on the weekends, when in a normal year this park can be rather crowded, but on the days I was here in May, there were some people about taking pictures, but not too many. Another sign that this was May: some trees were leafed out, and others were just getting started.
Here we have a look back at those beds off the main path, and the lake beyond.
There is such a rich selection in types of tulips. Our festival uses but a fraction of those types, planting a million bulbs or so in the public gardens. Members of the public plant more in their own garden. Here at Commissioners Park, the variety is a delight to the eyes.
Hello William I love your header photo. And the bloom images are a cheerful delight to the senses this morning. I trust you're well and safe. Jo
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame it was not viewed by the usual crowds. But hopefully they will be able to be back next year.
ReplyDeleteThe tulips would have made a nice bit of relief from the lockdown or whatever you want to call it.
ReplyDelete...whoever did the planning of Ottawa's open spaces did a marvelous job.

Nice fields of blooms. Have a lovely Sunday William.
ReplyDeleteYes, crazy times, even the trees have no idea what do do, it seems...
ReplyDeleteThe virus has emptied trails, parks and streets everywhere. It is changing here now but the three new cases of Covid after two months without any could change that quickly again.
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteHello, it is a cheerful sight and delight for the eyes. Have a great day and a happy new week!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are a delight to see William, so strange though without hoards of other visitors there to see and take photos ✨
ReplyDeleteHet lijkt mj prachtig om daar te zijn Wlliam.
ReplyDeleteBeauty continues, even without us around to see it. Mmm, something poetic about that.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of tulips in one town!
ReplyDeleteI love those top two photos where you have all that green and blue and just strip of bright color from the flowers.

ReplyDeleteBeauty for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteI think the beds are breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet interlude, William
ReplyDelete@Agnieszka: that they are.
ReplyDelete@Sami: thank you.
@Iris: some of the trees get started early. Others take through the end of May to get leafed out. It really depends on the type of tree.
@Marie: it's been a lot quieter this year.
@Marleen: I agree.
@Eileen: thank you.
@Grace: it was odd.
@Bas: thanks.
