The Colonel

I returned to Major's Hill Park to get another view of tulips days after my first visit. The bed behind Colonel John By's statue was in full bloom.

Walking along that bed gives background views of landmarks like the Connaught Building and the Chateau Laurier.

While at the far end, Parliament Hill can be glimpsed looking west towards the Colonel.

  14. I just Googled Colonel By and learned he was responsible for the Rideau Canal and once I looked at it on the map, I could see why they put up a statue to him.
