We begin today with this painting that always catches my attention. Portrait Of Ethel Southam (Mrs. F.H. Toller) is a 1938 portrait by Lilias Torrance Newton.
We carry on with two paintings by Edwin Holgate, another member of The Group Of Seven. Early Autumn is a 1938 work.
Nude In A Landscape dates to around 1930.
Prudence Heward exhibited from time to time with the Group, and was known for psychological portraits of women. This is her 1928 painting, Girl On A Hill.
Here we have Girl In Yellow Sweater, a 1936 oil painting by Heward.
Emily Carr also had a long association with members of the Group, and established herself as an artist in the Pacific Northwest, with a particular interest in First Nations group. This is Sky, done circa 1935-36.
Two more works by A.Y. Jackson of the Group. Indian Homes, Fort Resolution is at top, and dates to 1928. At bottom is Camp In Coppermine Country, from 1950.
I leave off today with Northern Lake, by Tom Thomson, circa 1912.
The girl on a hill painting stands out a bit.

DeleteI don't think of Group of Seven pieces with people in them. Thanks for showing these, William.
ReplyDeleteIt's more rare, but Holgate had his own way of doing things.
