Blizzard

Winter is great for a black and white mood in a photograph, particularly on those snowy days when blue skies are elusive. This photograph from March was during a snowstorm.  I was a minute's walk from my front door, in Brewer Park in Old Ottawa South. I am thinking of using this shot for a winter header in a couple of weeks or so.

    @Tomas: thanks!

    @Mike: it's either this one or the one for tomorrow.

  14. It's only November and I've already seen more snow than I want to!

  15. I would guess that by March I would be getting pretty tired of all the snow and cloudy days. Maybe that's just me.

  16. It sounds very blustery and cold and snowy up your way. I saw on the news this morning that parts of Buffalo, NY, got 3 FEET of snow! Yikes. A snowy header shot would be great!

  20. @Norma: you're getting a good deal early on in your part of the continent.

    @Judy: I don't think I can get enough of the winter, even if I've slipped and fallen twice in one day.

    @Lowell: Buffalo gets influenced by lake effect snow, so they get a lot of it.

    @Denise: thank you!

    @Grace: I'll see what the reaction is like for tomorrow.

    @Lauren: I love the snow!

  21. Whew! I got worried that it was of today. Lots of snow I hear off the Great Lakes today. The dreaded 'lake effect' snow. Curses!

  22. Definitely a good photo and would be a good header, too....I'm so glad you'll get this snow and not me....I just can't take winter anymore. But I do admit snow is wonderfully beautiful.

    It's been seriously cold lately. I love seeing snow and landscape covered in white, but still, I hope not to have snow too soon :-)

  28. That's a nice winter shot, William. But actually I was expecting a more recent shot, because we are seeing shots of a lot of snow in Canada and the US ...

  29. @Birdman: three of the best words in the English language: lake effect snow.

    @Bibi: If I get tired of it, there must be something wrong with me.

    @Tamago: what we've got now will probably stay.

    @RedPat: that is much too late!

    @Ciel: I'll hold off til December!

    @Marleen: thanks!

    @Peter: thank you!

    @Bill: we got about ten centimetres yesterday. Today has been colder but no snow.

  34. It is a nice photo, William. Is that really B+W, or just a colored photo at a time when there wasn't much color?
