A Contrast In Car Colours

It's almost expected that many a really old car will be black.

This second one has some purple highlights in it that I like.

While these two have much lighter colours.

  5. I think Ford was the one who decreed a car should be black. Ha! He should see the colors now!

  8. Oh I like the #1 and 2 cars. My one brother had a Model T. Ford. I think. He used to have to crank it up at the front to start it.. So now that is going back some. I think I may have been about 12 to recognize what he was doing. Nice cars William. Thanks for sharing.

  9. I'm old enough to remember the original colors. I prefer original color and I don't know why they don't use it. There's nothing wrong with the colors used...they're just not original.

    @Carolann: the oldest car I've ever seen was one from the earliest years of driving.

  16. That 2nd one look very much like my first car - a '37 Chevy. But it was all black and a front bumper among other things...And the springs were fun. You could get a few guys jumping up and down standing on the bumper and the car would start bouncing like it was amidst waves in the ocean. The "good ol' days."

  20. I agree with you - those purple highlights are very nice. "Period correct" is all good and well but if someone's going to put so much work into the restoration why not put in a little personality, too?

    @Marleen: I thought so too.

    @Kay: indeed!

    @Geoff: my parents had for several years a station wagon that was from the 80s.

    @Tomas: hello there!

  24. So many of the really old cars are painted colors that were never used in their era. To me, it ruins the authenticity.
