Twilight Descends On The Rideau Canal

In late July, I stopped on the Bank Street Bridge for a sunset view over the Rideau Canal.

Turning back around gave me a view of the rising moon and the Sunnyside branch of the Ottawa Public Library, which has the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons as its neighbour.

Tomorrow I have a different twilight from here to show you by contrast. Before then, however, I wanted you to see this treatment of my profile pic, done by Collin Beishir and initially placed at The International Intruder page Norma and I maintain over at Facebook. I'm planning on adding some memes to this for my election day post in October.

I actually do look like Bane!

  1. Love the reflections. Indeed scary, William! LOL! :)

  2. Looks beautiful! Love the reflection and the lights in them!

  3. The reflections are nice and you are quite scary!

  4. I like Cloudia's comment. :-)

  5. It is very important never to lose the sense of humor.

  6. ... the bane of your existence, I guess. Couldn't resist.

  7. I do like that canal in every kind of light! The whole area is beautiful. But who's that guy with the mask? Yikes!

  8. @Cloudia: I've been adapting Bane quotes!

    @Linda: it's quite a contrast to tomorrow's post from the bridge though.

    @Weekend: it's a great place to take in the sunset.

    @VP: thank you!

    @Marianne: the bridge is one of my favourite places in the city.

    @Revrunner: I did too!

    @Tomas: definitely!

    @Birdman: hah!

    @Lowell: he's rather nefarious, I think.

  9. I love the reflections in the canal!

  10. Beautiful scenery and lovely sunset view. You do look scary with the mask on.

  11. William, you're the only guy I know who'd be happy to discover he looks like Bane!

    Tony Stark, yes. Thor, yes. Star-Lord, yes. But...Bane?

  12. Haha! Oh that's too good. Man I get so jealous whenever you post pics of that canal. I would love to photograph that.

  13. Well, I was going to say beautiful sunset until I saw your new photo and that stopped me for a minute. It got my attention.

  14. What a hoot! :-) And in the same post as a pretty moon... :-)

  15. i loved the soft light. then, bam! scary!

  16. Beautiful photos of the water and its reflections. Gorgeous lighting. Bane? I wonder when he will turn up again in a movie. You could audition :)

  17. Nice moonrise pictures William a bit of a scary face though..

  18. @Jennifer: I wonder what my mother would have made of that face.

    @RedPat: thanks!

    @Nancy: I'm startled by how much I do look like the character.

    @Norma: "you think this gives you power over me?"

    @Whisk: thank you!

    @Krisztina: it's one of my favourite photo subjects, particularly from this location.

    @EG: thank you!

    @Jackie: thanks!

    @Red: that's what it was meant for!

    @Ciel: yes, I'm odd that way.

    @Tex: quite a switch!

    @Denise: Bane when played right is a hell of a character. Obviously he was played completely wrong when Joel Schumacher put him into Batman & Robin, but that movie had pretty much everything wrong about it.

    @Geoff: scary indeed!

  19. Great pics including the Intruder!

  20. Beautiful shots William. I love that time of day! I also saw that picture of you on FB the other day in my newsfeed and it gave me a chuckle.

  21. Everyone's curiosities yesterday were too much. Now you've added to things that make me speechless. (Canal shots are lovely.)

  22. Beautiful twilight shots William, magical time of the day! I prefer to see your handsome face :)

  23. twilight is a gorgeous time of the evenng! ( ;

  24. Pretty twinkle of lights round the canal. And your last photo looks as if you are preparing a mask for some Greek tragedy of alien proportions.

  25. @Mari: thanks!

    @Lois: thank you!

    @Kay: thanks!

    @Grace: hah!

    @Beth: it is.

    @Gemma: I can see that!
