City Daily Photo Theme Day: Shop Window

The first day of each month is always a theme day for members of City Daily Photo, and for the final theme day of 2015, the theme is Shop Window, a theme chosen by Vreni, who blogs from the great city of Vienna. You can find other takes on this theme right here.

I chose three different shops for this theme. The first is The Snow Goose, on Sparks Street. It specializes in Canadian First Nations artisans, particularly from the Far North.

Awhile back, Silver Snail, one of the comic shops I frequent most often closed up. However, like a phoenix rising from the ashes (not a Dark Phoenix, because that never ends well), one of the staffers started up Comet Comics, incidentally in my neighbourhood.

Boogie & Birdie is a shop I've featured before, downtown on Elgin Street. It sells clothing and eclectic knick knacks for home decorating, and tends to use not for sale stuffed animals in its front window display, which changes frequently. It's been recently set up for the Christmas season.

  10. Perfect trio for the theme William although I was wondering why a shop, 'Boogie & Birdie, would have not for sale products in the window?

  13. I bet more than a few would-be customers are disappointed that Boogie & Birdie doesn't offer its stuffed animals up for sale.

  30. Nice windows and I love all the names of these shops William!

  31. I think I'd find the Snow Goose irresistible. The Royal BC Museum in Victoria has good First Nations items but it's smaller than this shop looks.

  32. I love that first window, William. Just the name is appealing.

  33. @Denise: thanks!

    @Geoff: they do. I keep my eyes on those wooden carvings of animals. They're very realistic.

    @Jack: thank you!

    @Lois: I do too.

    @Kay: this one occupies a fair amount of space on the street.

    @Loire: I certainly think so!
