Before getting started today, some of you already know this, but for others, many of you know Tina, aka East Gwillimbury Camera Girl. She's been a photoblogger and regular visitor to many blogs. I'm sad to say that earlier this week she and her husband died in a car accident in southern Ontario. It's a shock to all of us who knew her through her blog, and all the more so to their family and close friends. Here is the link for her final post, and if you're at Facebook, stop by her page.
Across the Ottawa River in Gatineau, Jacques Cartier Park is turned into a winter playground for Winterlude, as I'll be showing through to the end of the month. This included a zipline.
It also included dog sleds. One could hear their barks from a good way off- the barks were coming from the team that were off leash having a break, while these dogs were raring to go.
Thanks for the very sad information about Tina. I'm heartbroken. She was a very talented photographer.
ReplyDeleteThank you, William for sharing the sad news with us. I appreciate it. As for the park, it would be fun to watch the happenings there especially the zipline and dog sleds.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the sad news, what a shock.
ReplyDeleteThe events in the park look very exciting.
Your images are sweet and full of fun and activity. Our 'Camera Girl' friend will be missed.
ReplyDeleteI just read the news about Tina this morning on FB. What a loss... I will really miss her and her beautiful nature shots of Ontario. :(
ReplyDelete@Kay: she was.
ReplyDelete@Nancy: you're welcome.
@Marianne: a definite shock.
@Lauren: yes she will.
@Halcyon: a lot of bloggers are making note of this.
Thank you for sharing the news about Tina and her husband. She will be missed!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind trying the dog sled!
I read the news on FB, too. Such a shock. ENJOY EACH DAY!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad, too, the canal is closed for the season. Shortest ever, I think they said. Either way, a lot of retail depend upon it, and lots of people enjoy it.
i always wonder if they do dog sledding any more, it looks like fun, a great work out. ( :
ReplyDeleteI read the news about Tina yesterday on FB. I'm so sorry, she will be missed.
ReplyDeleteI like the dog sleds, not often seen here...
I'm really sorry to hear about your photoblogger friend.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful park...I won't do zip lines, but I do love those dog sleds!
ReplyDeleteThere's something about dogs and sledding that really catches people's attention.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: I should have tried the dog sled!
ReplyDelete@Jennifer: it was not a good season for the canal this year.
@Beth: some places here and there- and these guys must have come from somewhere close by. I wasn't watching for a sign.
@Karl: they're often seen out west or up north.
@Norma: thank you.
@Lowell: it's quite a busy place during Winterlude.
@Red: it grabs my attention!
I love to see the dogs pulling together. Yes, it is a very personal loss in our blogging family, Williwm
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures of the brave dogs, but it is hard do not think about Tina...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun time. I'd like to do a zip line---someday.
ReplyDeletethanks for the mention about EG and hubby.
MB
I heard they have closed the canal skating for the season! So early.
ReplyDeleteI'm still in shock about EG. It is hard to believe.
The zip line looks like fun. Thanks for posting about Tina. The situation is so sad.
ReplyDeleteJanis
GDP
@Cloudia: it is, yes.
ReplyDelete@VP: I agree.
@MB: I should have tried the zip line.
@RedPat: yes, I'd been looking at the Canal- no sign if it had been used, and I'd assumed it wasn't being reopened again.
@Janis: it certainly is sad.
I've been sad all day. Perhaps trying my hand at mushing would take my mind off the sad news.
ReplyDeleteShocking news. And a friend died died last weekend too.
ReplyDeleteSad and shocking news, life is really so short and we take it for granted. Tina had a great eye with her camera and will be missed.
ReplyDeleteDog sledding is a fun experience if you try it :)
Dogs are amazing creatures, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteHmm..I'd like a ride on a dog sledge, just a short one just to try it out....terrible news about Tina and her husband, thoughts go to the family and friends...
ReplyDelete@Ciel: I have been sad all day too.
ReplyDelete@Mike: life truly is short.
@Bill: next year I will have to have a go at this.
@Revrunner: they are remarkable!
@Geoff: this wasn't too long a route.
I'm sorry to hear about Tina and her husband. I didn't know them, but it's always to hear about young people passing away too soon.
ReplyDeleteI like your photos of the zip line, but that's of less importance today, I think.
I would love to see those dog sleds in person!
ReplyDeleteGreat series of photos, William.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss. The dogs did brighten the rest of the blog.
ReplyDeleteSad, but perhaps we should all reflect on how important it is to enjoy every day.
ReplyDeleteSo sad about Tina. Life is a delicate thing.
ReplyDeleteVery sad to hear about a fellow blogger and her husband as well. It's not the first time I have read such news. People we have never met face to face become such online friends through their posts. Life is indeed so fragile.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of snow has also affected seasonal business in New England.
Such a huge loss for those of us who knew Tina. My heart goes out to her family. She will be missed by so many.
ReplyDelete@Jan: it's an odd thing, commenting now on posts from several years ago and still coming across her name in unanswered comments.
ReplyDelete@Lois: I don't know if they had the dog sleds this year. If they did, it was only on the weekends.
@Linda: thank you.
@Mari: they did.
@David: true.
@Linda: it is.
@Beatrice: I also know of Birdman, who died suddenly. A couple of other bloggers you wonder about, because they seemed to vanish and you know there were health issues.
@Hilary: I agree.
