One Hour Carvings
Around the Colonel By Fountain in the park, a series of sculptures were done on the first weekend by the sculptors, single block sculptures done in an hour. I have more of these over the next two days.

William I'm stunned that they only took an Hour to do, they are so detailed
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful and difficult pieces to make.
ReplyDeleteTomás.
I can only repeat myself, they are wonderful !
ReplyDeleteI just showed these to my husband. They are so impressive.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sculptures of ice!
ReplyDelete@Bill: the carvers know their stuff!
ReplyDelete@Tomas: they certainly are!
@Karl: thanks!
@Lauren: I agree!
@Marianne: they truly are.
I am surprised these only take one hour! Looks like they would need much more time.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of temporary art. Reminds us that winter, too, shall pass!

ReplyDeleteIncredible! I couldn't do one of those if you gave me ten years!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can't even imagine doing something like this in one hour!
ReplyDelete@Halcyon: apparently they work quickly.
ReplyDelete@Janis: winter took quite awhile to get started!
@Nancy: they did great work.
@Furry Gnome: they must plan in advance.
@Beth: I haven't spoken to any of them, actually! I'd rather let them do their job.
@Lowell: I know I couldn't!
@Sharon: it's beyond me.
Gosh these are amazing William, imagine all that detail in one hour, incroyable!
ReplyDeleteThe artist must have in his mind what he's going to do if he's going to do this in one hour. the detail is amazing.
ReplyDeleteOne hour??? I like the deer!
ReplyDeleteI do love ice sculptures, I remember seeing a whole festival in Germany a few years ago. The cold played havoc with my camera batteries.
ReplyDeleteThese were done in an hour?
ReplyDeleteSo creative and artistic
ReplyDeleteMB
They are all wonderful, but the third one is absolutely breathtaking. It's so delicate ... amazing.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable that they were done in one hour, William!
ReplyDeleteAmazing, even more so when you consider the short time they had to do them.
ReplyDeleteOne hour? Almost incredincredible!
ReplyDeleteMore amazing ice carvings. The 2nd and 3rd ones are so incredibly delicate.
ReplyDelete@Grace: incroyable indeed!
ReplyDelete@Red: it certainly is!
@Ciel: so did I.
@Mo: cold does have that effect on batteries.
@Norma: so it seems. I watched carvers do a second set of these on the following weekend.
@MB: indeed!
@Jan: I agree!
@RedPat: I think they did great work.
@Janey: they know what they're doing.
@VP: quite so!
@Gemma: I like those two as well.
marvelous!!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic work...
ReplyDeleteLike the ice-deer best, I think.
ReplyDeleteThey are fantastic! Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI like the bird! Amazing that they do something like that in only one hour.
ReplyDelete@Tex: indeed!
ReplyDelete@Geoff: definitely.
@Revrunner; that is a good one.
@Mari: you're welcome.
@Lois: they work fast.
gosh! quick!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely sculptures as well as the previous post, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of amazing art to create in an hour! But considering how cold it is, and how cold the medium is, I suppose speed is not a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sculptures. There's no danger of them melting in this weather!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing that these beautiful sculptures can be created in only an hour.
ReplyDelete@Cloudia: very quick!
ReplyDelete@Orvokki: thank you.
@Kay: it is!
@EG: not today either.
@Bill: they do it well.
