While we are in the midst of a gradual thaw, there's still plenty of snow around, but as you can see above, I've switched out the banner image for something more spring like.
These images are from the last weekend of Winterlude. It is typical of businesses to come into Confederation Park, often with giveaways. In this case, employees for Redpath, a Canadian sugar company, came with cookies, as well as this vintage truck that they take to events like this. The truck was a milk delivery van back in the late 1940s, and has been extensively restored.
The stilt walkers I've shown you previously were back.
And a number of local sculptors had another go at carving ice.
Bracing to be out in the cold like this
ReplyDeleteInteresting to see the activity's round the park. The truck is great though they did not go as far as using the original wheels I see
ReplyDeleteWhat so beautiful flowers that you've put!
ReplyDeleteTomás.
Your header is gorgeous. I've enjoyed your Winterlude event images.
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to tulip season in Ottawa :) Very beautiful headers not William.. j'adore the old milk delivery truck!
ReplyDeleteA colourful header!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos with people in them. The truck reminds me of something that Jasper and Horace might drive in Disney's 101 Dalmatians!
ReplyDeleteJanis
GDP
@Cloudia: we're used to it.
ReplyDelete@Bill: I imagine it might not have been possible.
@Tomas: it was time for a switch.
@Lauren: thanks!
@Grace: the truck really stood out!
@Marianne: it was that or a lilac view.
@Janis: I can see that.
Oh my gosh, I love that truck. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice bright sunlit day with all those activities. People on stilts, old trucks, I feel like I'm back in my childhood! Love the header photo!!
ReplyDeleteCool truck. I love your new header!

ReplyDeletehey, William ... love the new springy header shot. awesome pick! what a cool truck... that reminds me for truck they drive in the movie "Lady & the Tramp" ... the dog-nappers. wonder how it drives? good gas mileage? so curious. the hubby would probably laugh at me. ( :
ReplyDeleteVery colorful header. When ice carving first started, all they used was a hatchet. Now look at all the hand and power tools.
ReplyDelete@Deb: it's quite something for them to have around!
ReplyDelete@Lowell: it was very pleasant conditions that weekend!
@Norma: thank you!
@Sharon: well worth restoring.
@Beth: I can't recall Lady and the Tramp, though Janis thought of 101 Dalmatians.
@Red: it's become quite a craft.
Great new header and quite picturesque stilt walkers...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see this event in person.

ReplyDelete@Halcyon: that's from last year. The festival won't be here until May.
@Parsnip: thank you!
@RedPat: I assumed it must be used elsewhere too.
@Marleen: it was time for a switch, and this one won out over a shot from last spring of lilacs.
@Ciel: it was quite an appealing vehicle!
@Nora: thank you! Nice to meet you.
Nice classic milk truck. I love your cover photo with all those colorful flowers.
ReplyDeleteNeat truck although I'm afraid cookies are of the menu for me. Smashing shots of the stilt walkers and that ice carving looks great...
ReplyDeleteadorable old truck.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all your new header is gorgeous, love all those colorful tulips. The old truck is beautifully restored. Enjoyed the ice-carvers and the stilt walkers too.

@Tex: it really is.

Awesome van! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am still amazed by those stilt walkers and how they maneuver among the people and on the sidewalks that must have some wet patches from the snow. Love that old milk van!
ReplyDeleteFabulous shot of the Tulips!
ReplyDeleteLove the little restored truck. My grandfather had one similar. It looks a little chilly up there William!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great old truck!
