Dr. Mortimer stared strangely at us for an instant, and his voice sank almost to a whisper as he answered, "Mr. Holmes, they were the footprints of a gigantic hound!" ~ Arthur Conan Doyle, The Hound Of The Baskervilles
I was passing through Lansdowne on the first day of February, when I noticed this photogenic dog waiting for their human. Quite friendly, though the hound wasn't really one for the camera.
sweet pup. definitely trying to locate it's person.
ReplyDeleteHe was politely tolerating your attention. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a gud dug !
ReplyDeleteWatson he really didn't like to have his photo taken.
He was so handsome but the photos never really came out that great.
cheers, parsnip
That is the BEST type of dog in the world! I LOVE Labrador Retriever dogs.
ReplyDeleteNice dog; I like the way you got it to pose for you and I do like labradors. I also love the colourful header, by the way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dog. I think it is shy to be photographed. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteHaha! That's exactly what I do when someone points a camera at me :) Super shy doggy shots William.
ReplyDeleteIt is a cutie, a bid shy for the camera but looks very fiendly.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way of late.
ReplyDeleteLabs are great dogs. He's probably thinking, "move along man, no need for photos" :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful dog! Funny that he looks away for each shot :-) My kitties do the same quite often!
ReplyDeleteFunny how he totally seems to ignore you :)
ReplyDeleteNice shots, William!
@Tex: its human couldn't have been that far off!
ReplyDelete@Cloudia: tolerating indeed!
@Parsnip: some dogs are like that.
@Gunn: they're great dogs.
@Mike: thanks!
@Nancy: some dogs are quite camera shy.
@Grace: hah!
@Marianne: it was friendly.
@Janey: it may be catching.
@Bill: he may have been.
@Tamago: animals will do that.

ReplyDeleteLooks like a golden lab; they are wonderful dogs. But nobody has taught this one how to pose for some character pointing a black box at him!
ReplyDeleteSuch a patient dog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet-looking pooch!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he handsome. I think he thought the same of your camera as Audrey thinks of mine.
ReplyDeleteThe "hound" certainly did ignore you. But you did get a variety of poses.
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be a very nice and friendly dog.
ReplyDeleteI can remember I have seen a movie of the "Hound of the Baskervilles" when I was a teenager ... Man, that was really scary ...
@Marleen: he or she was fine without the camera.
ReplyDelete@Country Gal: definitely.
@Lowell: he may have found me disreputable.
@Revrunner: oh yes!
@Norma: absolutely!
@Deb: I can see that.
@Red: I did!
@Jan : I have read the book and seen several film adaptations.
What is it about a camera that dogs hate so much? It's like the know exactly what it is.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dog!
ReplyDeleteSchöner Hund und er wartet so geduldig.
ReplyDeleteGruß
Noke
Nice dog, but quite sad-looking...
ReplyDeleteMan's best friend.
ReplyDeleteReplyDelete
What a cutie.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly didn't want to look at you!
ReplyDeleteHe was quite disinterested!!! :-)
ReplyDelete@Sharon: this one wasn't one to pose!
ReplyDelete@Linda: quite a beautiful pup!
@Noke: thank you!
@VP: a bit sad looking, waiting for the human.
@Andy: definitely!
@Whisk: very cute.
@RedPat: and yet it was perfectly fine when I was first saying hello!
@Jennifer: definitely!
Yellow Labrador retriever. Our lab doesn't look at the camera because he learned early on that they can flash and he doesn't like that. Now he studiously avoids looking. This one may also not want to get bad press for appearing to not be eagerly awaiting his companion. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis gorgeous guy seems to be so fascinated with so many distractions - and one of them is not the camera.
ReplyDeletejust chillin' ... where is my owner? left me here, wonder if there are any friends out there who wanna woof with me? ( :
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend!!
a camera shy dog.... but a pretty one :))
ReplyDeletePoor baby. Left alone like that. He'll forgive the human though. Great looking dog.
ReplyDeleteOooh, so sweet! Just patiently waiting. Makes my heart melt.
ReplyDelete@Kay: that makes sense.
ReplyDelete@Gemma: perhaps wondering if treats are coming.
@Beth: I can see that!
@BC: oh yes.
@Mari: and more dogs to come!
@SRQ: I knew this dog would get attention!
Smashing you can't go wrong with a dog, very lovely....
