Curvaceous

A reminder to members of City Daily Photo, the theme day for April 1st is The Beauty Of Simplicity. And for those in Ontario or visiting in the next few months, the city schedule for Doors Open Ontario 2016 is up.

Constitution Square is an office complex downtown, housing firms, organizations, and a number of embassies, including the Dutch embassy. I've shown you this sculpture on the ground floor before, but I recently photographed it again. There are actually two sculptures here- the wall at the far side in the first shot is covered by raised lettering.

This last shot features a closeup of the other sculpture. Each line features continual writing and what appears to be a blend of languages- the French word droit can be found among the words on the wall.

  1. I like both of these, the first one is so simple but complex and the words are just lovely...

  2. I like the art very much and the raised words are awesome!

  3. What a curious sculpture. The word one seems straight out of Alice in Wonderland.

  4. I like the sculpture a lot; it reminds me of an interlocking puzzle or perhaps the brain of a politician.

  5. @Geoff: there is more art in this complex, but these two are the only unmarked ones.

    @Bill: I agree!

    @Janis: I can see that.

    @Revrunner: hah!

    @Marianne: it is an interesting work.

    @Jacob: oh boy!

    @Tanya: thanks!

  8. I like the first sculpture as you can see different shapes with the different viewpoints. It's one of hose you just don't walk by but stay for awhile. I wonder what it's called.

  9. @Mo: they're eye catching!

    @Grace: I retitled the post, actually... I had this at the end of the month, but I had to adjust my schedule somewhat in recent days, and that seemed perfect.

    @Norma: thanks!

    @Nancy: it is!

    @Red: I wish I knew- the other art in the building tend to have identifying plaques, but these two have nothing in that regard.

  10. I like the eve ongoing movement in that first sculpture.
    In the second piece of art I've discovered several Dutch words. :-)

  11. Both of these pieces are very interesting. I bet you could spend a long time staring at the wall and picking out words.

  17. This took me through a path of cursive and meaning

  18. @Jan: I'll have to look at it again- there must be English words in the mix as well.

    @Sharon: if there's ever a theme day involving writing, that installation's going to be my choice!

    @Tammie: some buildings here do tend to feature art, particularly on ground floors.

    @Linda: thank you!

    @VP: well, I figured someone might not go for it!

    @Beth: I'm sure there's Spanish up on that wall.

    @RedPat: they do make me stop when I walk through there.

    @Ciel: it does, yes.

    @Marleen: yes, particularly with different shapes.

    @Cloudia: a good way to put it!

  20. You took great photos from all angles. I like it a lot. I would also like to hear about the artist's vision on this piece. I bet it would be very interesting.

  21. I like how you showed all the different angles of this piece.

  22. I am not a fan of this type of sculpture or concept of art. That puts me in the same league as Grumpy Cat.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well, whether one likes the sculpture or not I like the angles you found in your photographs of it.

  24. All the curves give a certain softness to what is really a hard, metal sculpture.

  25. This reminds me too much of cobras ready to strike for me to enjoy it.

  26. I like it. Thanks for the Simplicity reminder.

  27. @Noke: thank you.

    @Denise: I imagine so.

    @Lois: it's interesting from a photographer's viewpoint.

    @Mari: some art will appeal, others will not.

    @Kay: thanks!

    @Halcyon: I wouldn't want to trip and hit my head against it!

    @Cheryl: I can see that.

    @Linda: You're welcome. I already have mine set, aside from text.

  28. Looks like a fancy race track. Like the loopy loop thing when we were kids.

  29. I laud the imagination of people who create these things!
