Lit Waters

A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme for November 1st is Out Of Focus. And a suggestion for the December theme day, what with that being Transition, if you've still got fall colours around, photograph a grove of trees now, and then a month from now. I've already selected the subject of the last shots for today as my take for that second theme day.

The sun's getting up later these days, so I'm able to photograph around dawn. I crossed Bronson Avenue, here where the Rideau Canal widens into Dow's Lake, early one September morning, photographing west into the lake, and then east over the Canal.

On another day, further east, I crossed the Bank Street Bridge late in the afternoon and liked the interplay of sunlight and clouds over the Canal. Both versions seemed to appeal to me.

  9. Glorious morning shots, William. Love that sun sparking up the sky...and the glass-like surface of the water...very beautiful, all of it!

  10. Nice shot with clear sky and vapor trails crossing one another. It's awfully dark here when I get up in the morning.

  17. @Mike: it's always a good idea to have a camera along- otherwise that sky would be a distant memory.

  23. I liked the cross star effect in the last photos. Soon enough we will be seeing skaters on the frozen canal, but for now it really looks fall-like.
