I'm finishing today with my photos taken in October around Rideau Falls, which include the John McCrae memorial, and more of those geese.
The view across the Ottawa River to Gatineau is lovely this time of year, and the same applies to the west branch of the Rideau Falls.
I finish with this view of the National Research Council labs, which border Rideau Falls on the west side. Tomorrow I have another subject for Remembrance Day (though autumn colours feature there as well), but after that I have more fall colours to come.
The National Research Council labs, give a feeling of loneliness.
ReplyDeleteTomás.
I think the view across the Ottawa River would be beautiful any time of year! Super shots, William. The geese...well, they are really messy! I'd prefer they stay off of our golf courses, but they don't seem to get the message. :)
ReplyDeletedon't get me started on the geese ... they are super messy. positive note ... i love that they can fly at night. that is so cool. they do it often around here. ( ;
ReplyDeletesuch pretty photos...i love when i hear the geese flying over! makes me happy :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of the rivers
ReplyDeleteYou have some beautiful colors along the Rideau Canal, William. In a few months, these scenes will be covered in white and ice, so nice to remember these.
ReplyDeleteI really have to visit Ottawa again, such a nice place, I have not been there for many years and I'm only a short hop down the 401.
ReplyDeleteThe colors in that first shot are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWatching the beauty of such a river is never boring.
ReplyDeleteA lot of geese have arrived here during the last week to stay for the winter.
You have great colors in Ottawa. We've made perfect places for Canada geese. We give them lots of food and a very safe environment.
ReplyDeleteI love the colours and reflections in your photos, William, and of course, I am always happy to see our Canada geese. :)
ReplyDeleteWe see lots of geese here as well. I love listening to them!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place. I remember seeing lots of Canadian geese near where my mother lived in Washington.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful area with lots of lovely colour.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a lot of geese around today - I think they are enjoying the warm weather we have!
ReplyDelete@Tomas: at least on that day, what with it being closed for a holiday.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: I don't mind them messing up golf courses! :)
@Beth: I think they're gone from here. Haven't seen or heard them in a couple of weeks.
@Tanya: it's a pleasant honk.
@Karen: thanks!
@Beatrice: it won't take long for the snow and ice to arrive.
@Shammickite: a good idea for the big anniversary year next year to visit.
@Sharon: thanks!
@Jan: mostly the birds leave here, with the exception of those who are year round residents.
@Red: they must enjoy this park!
@Linda: these geese are real characters.
@Marleen: they have such a distinctive honk.
@Pat: they're well spread in many places.
@Bill: it definitely is.
@RedPat: it's not quite so warm here- though that might be the way I'm feeling right now!
I love Canada geese!
ReplyDeleteSo that's where they hang out before going to play golf in the Coachella Valley?
ReplyDeleteDelightful Autumnal colours William - I never tire of them
ReplyDeletelove the geese and beautiful water views!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous colors. It looks like you have as many geese as the lakes in Washington.
ReplyDelete@Norma: they're real characters.
ReplyDelete@Eve: there were a lot of them, but that's to be expected that time of year.
@Dianne: neither do I.
@Tex: it's a wonderful place to visit.
@Mari: they do tend to start congregating in early October to prepare for the flight south. Usually during the summer they're in smaller groups.
Geese sure like to hang around with other geese. I showed one "geese convention" photo within the past month and saw another place covered with geese that I didn't photograph.
ReplyDeleteYou've found a lot of color. Nice! I suppose those geese are heading south by now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenery and the geese want to enjoy the view too!
ReplyDeleteThe statue is such a creative figure. A moving representation. And love the intense blues of the skies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful autumn images, the National Research labs are pretty impressive William.
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteOur geese have already fled.
In the summer they leave in one's wake forever their own "trademark" Every place is messy.
@Jack: they appreciate the company.
ReplyDelete@Kay: they probably leave here in September, but we see others who are coming from further points north into early December.
@Nancy: thanks!
@Gemma: it is.
@Grace: they are!
@Orvokki: that's true!
